    Indians Rout Woodbridge, now 4-0

Indian River High School continued its unbeaten 1998 season with a 42-19 Henlopen Conference Southern Division football victory over visiting Woodbridge Friday, Oct. 9, 1998.

Rising to 4-0 for the first time since the 1988 Division II state championship team finished 11-1, the Indians roared to a 42-6 lead entering the fourth quarter of their Homecoming game and South opener against the Raiders.

Antoine Stratton led the way with 143 yards and two touchdowns on just 11 carries. Buster Belote ran back a kickoff 84 yards for one of the Indians' three scoring plays of longer than 40 yards. The others were a 42-yard run by Stratton and a 41-yard run by Billy Hall.

Stratton also scored on a two-point conversion pass from Shawn Watkins and a 6-yard run. Ivory Williams started the Indians' scoring in the first period with a 6-yard run of his own. Kicker George Cole converted 4 of 5 extra point kicks.

Watkins, meanwhile, hit Brock Dean with a 17-yard touchdown pass that gave I.R. a 21-0 lead in the second period.

The Raiders fell to 1-3 despite quarterback Jason Rust's touchdown bombs to Jeremy Maddox and Andre Cannon of 78 and 80 yards, respectively. Cannon scored the Raiders' other touchdown on a 65-yard kickoff return.
