Twenty-six Indian River and Cape Henlopen high school athletes were honored last week when the Henlopen Conference announced all-star teams for soccer, field hockey and cross country.
In girls' cross country, an honorary First Team All-Conference slot was given to Cape Henlopen's Danielle Guerin, who was killed in a car accident Oct. 28.
Junior Jen Hicks was also named to the First Team.
Cape runners receiving Second Team honors were Cole Pavlik, Tessa Shoup and Brittany Morris.
On the boys side, Cape's Chris Jackson was named First Team All-Conference.
In soccer, Indian River had three players receive First Team All-Southern Division honors. They were Saeng Vongphoutone, Justin Polly and George Cole. Billy Clemens and James Lockard were named to the Second Team while Jamal Bivens received Honorable Mention.
For Cape, Chris Myers and Brett Williams were named Second Team All-Northern Division while Brian Misener received Honorable Mention.
Cape and Indian River both had strong showings in field hockey.
For IR, Sarah Lyons, Cara Deldeo and Keri Page were named First Team All-Southern Division while Julene Gamble was named to the Second Team and Kaitlin Roach received Honorable Mention.
Cape seniors Emily Walls, Billie Jo Brittingham and Angela Griffith were all named to the First Team in the Northern Division.
Amanda Hopkins and Shannon Colburn got Second Team honors and Lucy Short received Honorable Mention.
