Brad explains to Neil and Jill how he and Jack walked in on Victor with Brooke wearing only her lingerie. Jill is outraged and calls this a conspiracy. Diane arrives to cast her vote which surprises Jill who knew nothing of the divorce settlement. She wonders why this meeting is happening at the same time Victoria is out of town. Nick is pleased when Cassie shows him the "welcome home" sign she made for him. He then heads to the board room. Chris is surprised to stop by Nina's place and finds her not dressed in the middle of the day. She worries that Nina is depressed again until Nina's date Brett emerges shirtless from the bedroom. Claiming that she needs to get out of town to give her career a chance, Callie informs Malcolm that Gina has arranged some job interviews for her.

Assuring her that he doesn't want to hurt her, Jim tells Mary that the name Carl means nothing to him. He admits that he has spent years with Ruth living as a husband and wife would live together. Charles is upset with Paul and Chris because Chris discovered where Carl was months ago and allowed their relationship to blossom. Paul suggests that if he truly loves Mary, he should give her some space for the time being. Olivia orders Malcolm to tell Callie that he wants her to go home. She warns him that if he tries to come home, she will leave with their son. Neil talks with Gina about convincing Callie to leave. Gina agrees and asks Callie to sit down with her. While Nikki and Victor enjoy their vacation, the board meeting gets underway at the company with Jack, Brad, Jill and Neil.

Esther worries about Kay when she sees the broken mirror, blood and smells the odor of alcohol. When Jill arrives, Esther claims that it was her accident. Realizing that Jill has won, Kay considers whether it's worth living anymore. Nick comes home to stay after Sharon updates him on the situation with Alice and that Millie has disappeared. She agrees to have Chris file the paper work necessary for them to retain custody of Cassie and Cassie is thrilled by this news. Cole explains to Ashley that once he gets home, he is going to look up the history of the painting he saw at Rafael's place. Warning Rafael that they must be careful, Ashley makes plans to buy the fake painting back and burn it. Brad and Jack arrange for a board meeting to be held without Victor and run down the list of members who will be on their side.

A depressed Kay begins to hear voices including Phillip talking to her. Seeing herself in the mirror, holding a glass of booze, she angrily throws the glass. when Cole admires the painting, Rafael reveals that it has been in the family for generations. The landlord interrupts, demanding two months' rent. Cole decides to leave and returns to Ashley. Rafael gives the landlord a silver bowl to cover his rent. Ashley's upset when Cole admits that he saw the painting at Rafael's. Paul updates Chris on his attempt to see Millie at Alice's. Nick talks with Victoria about Sharon's troubles with Alice. Victoria can't understand why he would hesitate to move back in with Sharon when it would help Cassie.

Phyllis flirts with Jack at the bar but he announces that he's not interested and suggests that she "peddle her wares" elsewhere. Diane returns and finds Jack waiting. Phyllis angrily tells them both to go to hell. Diane then talks to Jack about getting married six months from now. In a strange mood, Kay fails to react when Shirley breaks one of her vases. A depressed Kay then pays Nikki a visit but decides not to burden her friend when she realizes how happy Nikki is because of Victor's divorce. Kay returns home and looks for an old friend. Finding a bottle of booze, Kay pours herself a drink Cole calls Victoria and asks her to send him his research files so he can work on his book. He then stops by Rafael's place.

Outside his office door, Jack overhears victor telling Phyllis that he has no further use for her. Accusing him of arranging the divorce proceedings fight, Victor explains to Jack that the divorce papers have been signed so Jack and Diane can make a life together. Jack insists that he had nothing to do with the divorce settlement demand of a seat on the board nor any other part of the settlement. Diane reveals to Brad that her divorce is final and she now has a seat on the Newman board of directors. She runs into Phyllis at the bar where she is supposed to meet Jack. when Diane heads to the ladies room, Phyllis greets Jack with the claim that Diane left. Victoria learns that Neil has agreed to have Malcolm live with him temporarily and that Malcolm is having marital troubles with Olivia.

Nick talks with Sharon about the problem with Cassie and she reveals that she doesn't want Cassie to know anything. He assures her that he's not going to allow anyone to take their daughter away. Paul poses as a man from the nursing home and tries to check on Millie. Claiming that her mother is with her sister, Alice gives him the runaround until Al comes home and chases Paul out. Trey explains to Malcolm that he had nothing to do with the beating he received. When Callie interrupts, Trey pulls out her contract and rips it up in front of them both. In the corridor, Trey does remind Callie that she can' t walk away from their other contract: their marriage. Ryan's curious when he realizes that Victoria has been reminiscing about the good times she shared with Neil.

Victor boots up his computer but before he can see that someone is accessing his files, Nikki interrupts. He leaves to escort Diane to the divorce settlement hearing. Meanwhile, thanks to Brad, Jack finally finds what he's looking for in Victor's files on the Forrester deal but is surprised when Nikki. Suddenly enters his office. Meeting with John and Chris, Michael tries to stall for more time until he hears from Jack but is stymied when Victor and Diane arrive to settle the divorce once and for all. Paul learns from his investigator Fred that Millie was discharged from the hospital and never arrived at the nursing home. He also is told that she went home with her daughter and decides to pay Millie a visit. Tony reveals to Nick what Sharon has been going through now that Alice is looking for Cassie and admits that he is very concerned about Sharon.

Jack guesses correctly that Victor used Nikki's real name as a computer file password and gains access to Victor's files. Michael threatens Brad, if Brad isn't playing straight with him. Brad later leaks to Jack that Phyllis is on her way to see him, but Jack claims that she never made it. Grace is with Michael when Al calls to set up a meeting with Alice next week. Al warns Alice that she's a "loose cannon" and again states that he will handle this matter. Sharon complains to Tony about the way Nick told her off after announcing that he was leaving town.

Nick tells Sharon that she is wrong for thinking that she is wrong for thinking that she can never trust him again. Victor and Niki share a night of passion. Jack accesses Victor's files that he got from Nikolas and discovers that he has thirty seconds to enter a second passwork or he won't get into the file. Mary still can't beleive that Carl is alive and expresses her appreciation to Chris. Paul decides that they must tell her that Carl is with Ruth now. Carl tells Mary that he can't even remember their home or her.

When Mary spots her long-missing husband at Gina's, she stares in disbelief before she faints. when she comes to in Gina's backroom, Paul compliments Charlie on all he has done for his mother but then tells Mary that she was not dreaming. Carl is alive. Carl then enters the room. Tony explains to an upset Megan that Sharon needed his help and that's why he left the party. He agrees to meet her at his apartment later. Chris urges Sharon to resolve her differences with Nick so that she will have a good marriage to use in a custody battle. Nick announces to Victoria that he is leaving town and complains that he saw Sharon in Tony's arms yesterday. He sadly admits that there is no use in him trying to win Sharon back.

Nicholas stuns Jack when he asks him to have him transferred out of Genoa City and away from his marital troubles. Jack warns him that Victor is going to learn of this and will not be very happy. Before Nick leaves, a scheming Jack claims to need access to a client's files that are on Victor's computer. Nick unknowingly gives him access to the files that he needs. Mary cancels lunch with Paul and Chris at Gina's but Paul decides to go there anyway. There, he spots Jim and Ruth when they arrive for a bite to eat. Megan sips coffee at the coffeehouse and mopes to a friend about Tony leaving his surprise party with Sharon. When Tony arrives, he tries to explain why he left but she is still upset. Neil assures Olivia that Malcolm and Callie were simply old friends and that nothing was going on between them during her stay in Genoa City.

Tired of their advice, Nick tells Victor and Nikici to bacNc off where his marital problems are concerned. When they refuse, Nick reminds them that most of their marital lives have been spent being married to others and adds that Victor is currently still married to another woman. Jack suggests to Brad that they must gain access to Victor's personal computer files to find something they can use to end his rein at Newman. Nick interrupts and asks to speak to Jack. Jill makes another move to upset Kay when she brings a dog to the mansion. Kay runs to see Michael and cries that she is at the end of her rope where Jill is concerned, especially since Jill keows about her fear of dogs.

Preparing her son to see her beaten husband, Olivia tries to explain to Nate that Malcolm will be all right though he cries when he finally sees him lying in his hospital bed. While the nurse takes Nate for some hot chocolate, Malcolm starts to ask Olivia a question until Callie pops in for a visit. Olivia admits to Neil later that it bothered her that Malcolm recognized Callie and not her when he came to. Al asks Grace why she's turned against her friend Sharon but Grace covers. Millie tries to call the nurse at the hospital but Alice stops her and realizes that she must get Cassie as soon as possible. Alice calls Grace's place and tells Al that Millie is beginning to talk again so they need to do something.

Ashley lays into Rafael for using her to deliver a phony painting to her friend Marjorie Huddelston. He offers the excuse that the original painting was the only thing of beauty he owned. Ashley is thrilled when Cole finally finds her and quickly makes love to him. Neil updates Ryan and Victoria with the news that Malcolm is beginning to get better. Trying to control his anger because of Victor's Forrester deal, Jack boasts to Brad that the big man made a mistake and now he's going to bring him down. Victor is upset when Nick explains that Sharon's rejection is unbearable for him. Urging him not to give up, Victor reminds his son that he hurt her terribly. Nick responds by claiming that he can't wait forever.

Nina reads to an impressed Brett a section from her new book and he compliments her on her writing. The two then share a passionate kiss. In Spain, Rafael talks with Ashley about his problem and adds that he would like to meet Cole. She nixes the idea and warns him that he committed a crime by selling the phony painting. Victor talks with Victoria and Nick about developing new perfume products for a lingerie line. Jack advises Brad that they need to be serious when thinking about dealing with Victor. Victor interrupts and stuns Jack with the news that he agreed to the deal with Forrester. Cole arrives in Paris and finally learns that Ashley is in Madrid. Alice torments her mother by gloating about how she is going to get Cassie back.

Jack and Brad are frustrated when Ted, one of the board members, admits that he is against the idea of ousting victor from the company. Brad discusses with Jack that Dane is on their side. Michael shows up at Newman Enterprises and, when they ask him to delay further, announces that he expects to be rewarded for his efforts with Diane's divorce. Jack hints to Brad that they need to find something they can use against victor in order to tip the scales against him. Megan manages to get her hands on the key to Tony's place by claiming that she's going to throw a surprise party for him once he returns from Florida.
