Brad and Jack meet with three of the top people at Newman Enterprises, Michaels, Phillips and Adams, to talk about the need for Victor in the company. Ruth complains to Paul about his motive in taking Jim from her and suggests that it might be time for Mary to know what is going on. After convincing the hotel manager to give her Ruth's room number, Mary shows up at the hotel room door while Ruth, Jim and Paul remain quiet inside. Ryan picks up Phillip to take him to the movies and runs into Brett who has arrived to take Nina out on their date. Over dinner with her attorney, Diane tells Michael that she and Jack are back together. Victor explains to Nikki that he was in L.A.

Olivia advises Neil that there is no change in Malcolm's condition. Gina stops Callie from the going to the hospital to check on Malcolm. Neil stops by the club with the update on his brother and warns that Malcolm needs his wife now, not his ex-. At the hospital, Malcolm suffers a seizure. Borrowing some family movies and telling Mary he's going to put them on video for her, Paul brings the visual memories to Jim so that he can watch himself with his family. Mary calls to find out where Ruth is staying. Chris introduces Millie to Fred, a private detective who will check on her everyday and keep in touch with Chris. Nick announces to Nikki that he going to request a transfer out of town because he's tired of hurting his children and doesn't think there is any hope for his marriage.

Jill's hired actress Shirly boasts that she will do all that she can to make herself the "maid from hell." Jill advises her to drive Kay up a wall and adds that she can do what she wants to Esther. Brad stops by to see Nikki just as Kay leaves. He surprises Nikki with a gift from Italy. When Shirley offers to help Kay, she and Esther argue who will get her a glass of water. As they argue, the two spill water all over Kay. Diane makes Jack's day when she announces that she has decided to go for the seat on the board of directors in her divorce settlement. Jack then updates Michael on Diane's decision. Excusing herself when she's interrupted by Alice, Chris reads the note that she pocketed from Millie's room. Al informs his girlfriend that Grace called but adds that he will meet with her alone.

Brad explains to Cole that Ashley is trying to help a friend of the family who embezzled money from Jabot. Meanwhile, Ashley meets with Rafael and explains that she has the money for him but wants what he has promised her. He refuses to take the money so she leaves. Claiming to have saved his butt where Diane is concerned, Brad warns JacNc not to blow their plans to win the seat on the Newman Board. Later, Jack accuses Diane of being afraid of starting a relationship. Chris talks with Millie in the hospital and finds she can only respond by blinking her eyes. When Chris spots a letter on the nearby table addressed to Millie, Alice bursts in and demands to keow what she is doing with her mother.

Paul receives a call informing him that Millie is in the hospital. Hearing this, Chris decides to go to Madison to check on her. Ryan's shocked to hear from Neil about Malcolm. He assures him that he will cover for him at the office until this crisis is over. Victoria complains to Ryan about the state of her life and as he holds her, she vows to get her life back in order. Nick confides to Cole that he needs his wife back. He then stops by to visit with Sharon and suggests that they might use the jet to fly to some place warm for a quick vacation. Cassie loves the idea but Sharon accuses him of using Cassie to try to solve their problems. Cassie embarrasses Sharon when she reveals that her mother liked the idea of traveling when Tony mentioned going to Florida.

At the hospital Olivia blames Callie for what has happened to Malcolm and cries that his stepson will lose his father, thanks to her. She orders her to get out. Neil is shocked to learn that his brother may not survive the night. He's also told that if he does live, he could be blind or paralyzed for the rest of his life. Trey warns his hired thug that if he goes down for the beating he gave Malcolm, he's going to face it alone. He then asks why he didn't finish the job. Callie calls Trey and vows to make him pay dearly if Malcolm dies. Megan explains to Tony that she wants to go with him on his trip.

Malcolm is moved from the ICU to get another CAT scan Neil urges. Victoria to go home and get some rest Olivia explains to Neil that someone tried to kill Malcolm and adds that Trey is an evil man. She guesses that Callie is the cause of this and cries that this is the way that Callie took her husband from her. Cole's frustrated when he can't find out where Ashley is. Victoria goes running to Cole and, after updating him on Neil's brother, complains that Neil didn't want her at the hospital. When she and Gina finally hear about Malcolm being at the hospital, Callie rushes to see him. Brad asks Victor why he should care if Jack is dating Diane and then complains that he feels his loyalty is being tested. Jack boasts to Brad later that everything is going according to plan.

In bed making love with Diane, Jack assures her that he is not going anywhere and urges her not to allow Victor to get his divorce without paying for it. He suggests that she demand a seat on the Board of Directors. Diane asks if he is using her to get what he wants from Victor. Phyllis boasts to Victor that Jack is the man dating Diane now but he doesn't believe her. Paul informs Callie that there is more than the music business going on with Trey and forces her to admit that she was once in love with Trey. Victoria confides to Neil that she can't go on without him anymore. They're interrupted by a call from Olivia who urges him to rush to the hospital. Shocked by the extent of his injuries, Olivia angrily blames Callie for Malcolm's condition.

Due to live coverage of the Senate impeachment trial, "The Young and the Restless" did not air on Tuesday, January 19.

John and Michael stop by Kay and Jill's mansion with their ideas on how to solve this big problem.. They suggest that they sell the house, tear it down and build two places or each live int the place for six s out of the year. Jill and Kay both refuse all of the ideas. Chris confides in Nina that she's concerned about how Carle's presence will affect Paul now that his father is beginning to remember his past. Nina mentions to Chris that Philip's soccer coach asked her out on a date. Olivia and Callie approach Paul for help in finding a missing Malcolm Olivia states her fear that Trey had something ot do with his disappearance and adds that she thinks he's a thug who is capable of anything. Olivia responds to her page and is shocked to see an unconscious Malcolm lying in the emergencey room, badly beaten.

Stating that he's leaving town, Tony invites Sharon to come with him to Daytona, Florida, where he must pick up a car and bring it back to town for his boss. He leaves her with a kiss. Nick~ talks with Grace about moving to Los Angeles but she isn't interested. Just then, Al walks in so Nick leaves. Al guesses that Nick is working for her and then confronts Grace with his theory about what she did. He assures her that they can keep Alice quiet with something to compensate for her loss. Grace realizes that Al is after money. Phyllis boasts to Jack that she wants him as her sex partner with no strings attached. Talking with victor, Brad agrees to continue to keep an eye on Jack but claims to be doing the best job he can.

Due to the senate Impeachment hearing, "The Young and the Restless" did not air Thursday, January 14.

Diane explains to Michael that she wants her divorce done and Jack back in her life. Jack calls Michael and asks him to use the back staircase in meeting with him as soon as possible. When they meet, Michael updates him on Diane's demands. Al explains to Alice that he feels Grace is not protecting Sharon but herself and guesses that she took Cassie from Millie. Victor urges Nick to take Sharon on a trip on the Newman jet but Nick tells him that he's not his father. At the coffeehouse Grace complains to Tony that Sharon treats her like dirt and bitterly reveals that Sharon stopped her from talking with Cassie on the phone earlier. Tony makes it clear that he doesn't want anything to do with her.

Paul is shocked when Jim tells him that he was in Mary's house earlier today. Jim goes on to admit that he remembered taking Patty and Paul to school years ago. He also reveals that he once gave Mary a special gift. When Jim admits he started to remember while he was in church, Paul yells at him to believe that it is his life that he is remembering. Jim promises Paul that they will meet again tomorrow. Guessing that Ruth is a newcomer to the neighborhood, Mary invites her in for tea. Ruth later returns to Gina's restaurant. Megan leaves Tony's doorway after seeing him with Sharon. Tony tells Sharon that they are good for each other but she responds by reminding him that she has a husband and a family.

Shocked to see his father at a nearby table, Paul makes an excuse and escorts Jim and Ruth to Gina's office. While he's gone, Mary asks Chris to tell her son why she and Charlie had to leave. Paul explains to his father that the man who was with Mary is Carl's old friend Charlie. He pleads with him to get out of town to allow them to get on with their lives. Jim mentions some of the memories that he's been having since he returned to Genoa City. Ruth decides to pay Mary a visit. Megan confides in her sister and claims that she has never felt the way she feels now about Tony and states that she is in love. Sharon stops by Tony's place and learns that Nick approached him about helping him get his marriage back together.

Brad brings Jack the results of the company's success while they've been in charge and boasts of their ability. Jack smugly tells Brad that they have Diane right where they want her. To show off the new bedroom line, Brooke removes her dress and models her lingerie for victor. Brad and Jack walk in just in time to see Brooke half-dressed. Jack is outraged that victor is interfering. Diane announces to Michael that she wants her divorce settled quickly. Grace confides to Michael that Sharon Newman is the friend with the daughter she's been referring to. Cassie calls Nick to tell him that she loves him and misses him. Tony refuses to help Nick get back together with Sharon and claims that Sharon could do better than be with a "jerk" who cheats on his wife.

Victor wants Jack to make it a priority to talk his sister into making time for Cole. After giving Jack a kiss, Diane assures Jack that Brad is not her type. Jack promises her that he will be there for her. Malcolm confronts Trey and orders him to cut Callie loose from her contract. Trey isn't interested and when Malcolm leaves, Trey's hired thug follows him out. Olivia advises Neil not to do anything until both he and Victoria are sure about everything. When Cole advises Neil how to take care of the still- recovering Victoria, Neil suggests that he concentrate on his own problems by starting to focus on his wife. Paul thinks aloud to Chris that it might be a good idea to tell his mother about his father.

Callie explains to Malcolm that she turned down the opportunity of a lifetime because she doesn' t trust Trey after he wouldn't give her a copy of her contract. Malcolm assures her that he's not going to allow her to run away again. Ruth confides to Jim that she's not sure about anything in their lives now. Paul and Chris update Lynne on what happened to Paul's father. Paul invites Mary and Charlie to meet him at Gina's after church. Jim and Ruth sneak into Mary's house after Mary leaves for church. Asked about the kiss they shared, Cole reminds Victoria that he is married now and is keeping the past in the past. Victoria tells herself that she will always love Cole. When he receives a call from Brooke about the Forrester fragrance idea, he suggests she send him a proposal in writing.

Jill's men are stopped from rehabbing the kitchen when Kay threatens to sue them and their company. Both attorneys are called and Michael suggests that Kay sell the house and split the profits with Jill. Unaware that Jack is with Brad in the office, Diane enters wearing only a fur coat and some sexy lingerie. She ends up shocking both of them when she flashes open her coat. Jack tells Brad that the next step is to work on the individual board members to get their support and to get Diane on the board. Jack announces to a disappointed Brooke that they cannot at this time create the perfume for Forrester Creations. Gina overhears Callie on the phone talking with someone at the bus station about how far she could travel for fifty dollars.
