Casey and Sara begin to make love on the beach. Antonio and Gabi nervously confer about the blackmail threat from Francesca. Annie informs a stunned Cole that Olivia has known for some time that Trey is her child. Francesca reports success to Gregory and orders him to cough up the five million bucks he owes her. When her "partner" hangs up on her, Francesca realizes she'll have to put the squeeze on Gabi for the traveling money she needs. Cole threatens to shake the truth out of Annie, then ties her to the bed and gags his struggling prisoner. Reassured by Casey that the time is right at last for both of them, Sara happily gives in to her desires. Maria gives a frustrated Antonio advice. Gabi promises not to give into Francesca's demands. Delighted to find Annie trussed up like a Thanksgiving turkey, Olivia takes the opportunity to get in some verbal jabs of her own.

Sara's daydream of a bright future with Casey comes to a screeching halt when she remembers that she still has to deal with Tim. Cole is outraged to learn from Caitlin how Annie provided her with a baby to call her own. Olivia pulls a gun on Francesca. Tim reminds Sara that he expects her to get him a job at the Shock Wave if she has any hope of winning the heart of her favorite musclebound lifeguard. Annie is appalled to realize how Gregory set her up to take a very nasty fall. Though Caitlin tearfully begs him to forgive her, Cole rages at her for betraying him and living a cruel lie for months on end. Brandishing the gun, Olivia snarls at Francesca for making a play for Cole and his father simultaneously. Casey can hardly believe his ears when Sara urges her surprised parents to take pity on Tim and hire him on at the restaurant.

Virginia becomes Dr. Estrada's patient in the psychiatric wing at Cedar oaks. Alarmed when Dr. Manning asks her to donate blood to Trey, Caitlin concocts a flimsy sounding excuse to avoid the transfusion. Francesca threatens to do a little video show- and-tell for Ricardo unless Gabi steals two hundred thousand dollars from the police evidence room and hands the loot over. Vanessa tells Tyus and Michael she's reluctant to press charges against Virginia because Jimmy will suffer the consequences as the innocent victim of his mother's madness. Feigning a state of shock; Virginia clams up for her doctors but continues secretly plotting against Vanessa. Cole questions Caitlin's claim that she's come down with the flu. Gabi scrambles to cover for Francesca's visit to Ricardo.

Gregory orders Dr. Manning to tell Trey's parents that the baby needs a blood transfusion. Meanwhile, Carmen again consults her trusty Tarot cards and warns Gabi that she will never tie the knot with Ricardo. Francesca concocts a new plan to take Cole and Trey out of Sunset Beach and decides to finance her scheme with a touch of blackmail. Cole and Caitlin bring Trey in for his first year check-up and are concerned when Dr. Manning pretends to spot some irregularity with the child's blood work.

An enraged Olivia confronts A.J. after spotting him in a passionate clinch with Francesca. Astonished to see the video of Gabi and Antonio making love, Francesca bitterly recalls how the priest dared to lecture her on morality during their ill-fated sea cruise last year. Later, Gregory phones to let Francesca know he's moving up their timetable for splitting Cole and Caitlin apart. When Ricardo questions his brother about his apparent crisis of faith, Gabi pipes up with a fabrication to cover for Antonio's obvious shame. Caitlin improvises a fairy tale for Trey's bedtime based on real events in the lives of the boy's parents. Antonio is dismayed to hear from the bishop that his transfer to Guatemala has been canceled. Cole and Caitlin are thrilled when Trey toddles his first steps on his very first birthday.

Despite his tete-a-tete with God, Antonio remains uncertain about the path he must choose. Meanwhile, Gabi is overwhelmed by a romantic gesture from Ricardo, who caps off the afternoon by presenting her with a ring--and a proposal. Maria regretfully reports to Carmen that they were both wrong about Ben wanting to pick up where he left off. Antonio arrives at his brother's place just in time to hear Gabi say yes to Ricardo. After pulling away from Francesca's kiss, A.J. informs her he won't let her ruin his chances for a future with the woman he loves. Ben tells a delighted Meg he's bought the cabin where they were reunited so they'll always have a special place to honor the passion they share. Later, Ben and Meg make love again. Gregory convinces Annie it will be in her best interest not to pour her heart out to Cole.

As he prays for strength, Antonio is suddenly enveloped in a blinding white light. Annie berates Ben for twisting the knife in her best friend's vulnerable emotions. Kneeling in the presence of the Lord, Antonio humbly asks for divine guidance with his personal struggles. Sara's guilt feelings intensify after Casey discloses what a relief it is to be able to trust her again. Maria finally calms down and accepts a comforting hug from Meg just as Ben and Annie walk in.

Tim puts in an appearance at Surf central and is dismayed when Meg triumphantly reports that she and Ben are back together again. Meanwhile, Ben prevents a weeping Maria from throwing herself into the ocean. close to hysterics, Maria slaps Ben and accuses him of stringing her along with his lies since the first day she returned to Sunset Beach. Michael forces Virginia to repeat her confession to an appalled Tyus. Misinterpreting his brother's remarks when he was trapped and near death, Ricardo assures Antonio that he understands how even a priest could temporarily lose his faith in God under such trying circumstances. Maria screams at Ben that she hates him for the way he's destroyed her life. Sara warns Tim not to breathe a word to Meg about their partnership.

As an over-heated Sara and Casey indulge in a little foreplay, Meg strolls in and triumphantly announces that she and Ben are back together again--for good. Still reeling from the loss of his unborn child, Tyus breaks his sad news to Gabi and the others. Puzzled by Antonio~s obvious distress, Ricardo grows determined to learn the source of his brother's unhappiness. Meanwhile, Antonio puts his own troubles aside in order to offer a grieving Vanessa his comfort. Ben catches up with Maria and informs her that he and Meg have renewed their commitment to one another. Michael corners Virginia and furiously blames her for causing the death of Vanessa baby. Sara fears that Casey will never forgive her if he finds out how she plotted with Tim. when Gabi interrupts his prayers, Antonio reveals his decision to confess his sin to Ricardo.

As another cave-in sends more debris crashing down around his ears, Antonio shouts to his brother to save himself and leave him to die. Olivia and Bette catch Amy eavesdropping as they discuss how to solve a certain problem named Francesca. Spotting a golden opportunity to be rid of Cole, Annie deliberately fails to warn Caitlin's husband that he's headed for a seven-story fall off an exposed ledge. As Carmen glares at her, Gabi shudders to think that Ricardo's psychic mother has already guessed what transpired between her and Antonio while they were trapped together. To Gabi's relief, Carmen only berates the young woman for getting her son into such a dangerous situation in the first place. Annie has a change of heart and hurries to stop Cole but they both wind up sliding over the edge.

As they bask in the afterglow, Antonio whispers "I love you" to Gabi. In Palm Springs, Tim breaks the bad news about Antonio to an alarmed Maria and offers to drive her back to Sunset Beach. Ben and Meg surrender to their passion and make love in the abandoned shack. Determined to throw Cole off the track, Annie claims she was having an affair with Dr. Brock and doesn't want the secret to come out. After Antonio convinces her to leave him behind, Gabi manages to crawl to safety and into Ricardo's waiting embrace.

At first relieved to see a car approaching, Meg is surprised to discover that her savior is none other than Ben. At the Resort, Ricardo and Casey come up with a risky plan to rescue the bomb victims. Meanwhile, certain that death is imminent, Gabi and Antonio throw all caution to the wind and make love. Ben accuses a sputtering Meg of trailing him and Maria to Palm Springs. Francesca pressures Gregory to give her half of the five million dollars in advance. Bette advises her niece not to give up on Gregory. Meg finds herself stuck yet again when Ben 's car dies in the rainstorm. Cole explains to Caitlin why he and A.J. are investigating the very real possibility that Olivia's baby is still alive. Ben and Meg take refuge in an empty shack, where their anger fades away and is replaced with growing passion.

Though the fire chief regretfully informs Ricardo and his mother that things look very grim, Carmen refuses to believe that there is no hope for Antonio and Gabi. Michael yanks Virginia off of Vanessa, who doubles over in pain and cries out in fear for the fate of her unborn child. Meg comes to following the crash and finds herself on a lonely back road in the pouring rain. Gabi tells Antonio she believes their predicament is a punishment from God for their forbidden love. Caught up in the magic of their kiss, Maria urges Ben to make things they way they were the first time they occupied the honeymoon suite. Vanessa tearfully explains to a horrified Michael how Virginia drugged her and then artificially inseminated her with Tyus' sperm. Certain she and the priest are doomed to die together in the rubble, Gabi succumbs to her passion and kisses Antonio.

As Ricardo handcuffs him, Gerard gleefully informs the detective that his girlfriend is already a goner. Meanwhile, an explosion rocks the Resort and sends a pile of debris raining down upon Antonio and Gabi. Tim explains to an uneasy Sara how they're going to ensure that they end up with Meg and Casey. Meg confides to Vanessa her fear that her ultimatum to Ben may drive him back into Maria's arms permanently. Antonio crawls through the rubble to reach Gabi and is greatly relieved when she finally opens her eyes. Michael vents his rage on Virginia, who continues to insist that Vanessa betrayed him. Appalled by her behavior, Michael informs Virginia he never wants to lay eyes on her again. Ricardo rushes to the Resort and frantically claws at the wreckage surrounding what once was Gabi's office.

A seething Michael forces Dr. Green to admit that he forged the letter on orders from Virginia. Carmen warns Antonio that if he spends one more hour in Sunset Beach something terrible will befall him and someone he loves. At the precinct house, Karen tries to alert Ricardo to her husband's evil plan but the detective gets distracted by a call from Gabi, who triumphantly reports that she's identified the embezzler. Maria confides to Annie her scheme to win back all of Ben's heart once more. Meanwhile, Meg sadly tells Ben she can t see him anymore until he figures out exactly where his heart lies. Determined to shut Gabi up permanently, Gerard plants a time bomb at the Resort. Maria is pleasantly surprised when Ben agrees to go to Palm Springs with her to revisit the site of their second honeymoon.

Gabi continues to stonewall as Ricardo again pressures her to reveal the real reason his brother is leaving town. Meanwhile, Antonio books an earlier flight to Guatemala. Tyus volunteers to be Vanessa's Lamaze coach. Michael shows Virginia the letter from Dr. Green, then asks her why she was in the physician's office the other day. Spotting Cole over his father's shoulder, a panicked Francesca yanks away from A.J. and slaps him across the face in a show of righteous indignation. Carmen is dismayed to read trouble in her Tarot cards. Maria pries for the truth about Antonio's haste to get out of Sunset Beach. Vanessa and Tyus how he really feels about Francesca. Antonio finally confesses to his sister that he's fallen in love with Gabi.

Olivia confronts Francesca in her hotel room. Cole watches for cracks in Annie's veneer as he wonders aloud why a successful doctor like Brock would take his own life. Ricardo demands to know why Antonio seems so hell-bent on leaving town. As Gabi begins to investigate the embezzling at the Resort, Karen cautions Gerard that A.J.'s new assistant is closely associated with Detective Torres. Francesca scoffs at Olivia's claims that she never seduced Cole. After Francesca threatens to fill Caitlin in on the whole sordid mess, Olivia counters by vowing to kill her just as Bette walks in. Ricardo is puzzled by Gabi's apparent desire to see his brother move away from Sunset Beach. Following her showdown with Olivia, Francesca tells Gregory she will accept five million dollars for sleeping with A.J. after all.
