    Friday, Jan. 29, 1999

    As the news of Brock's "suicide" hits the front page of the morning paper, Cole tells A.J. he suspects the doctor met with foul play. Later, Cole watches with interest as Annie overreacts to the newspaper's headline. Meanwhile, Gregory hints to Francesca that she could suffer the same fate as Brock's if she doesn't cooperate with him. Inside the confessional, a miserable Antonio reveals that he has been having carnal thoughts about the woman his brother loves. Carmen accosts Gabi at Surf Central and accuses her of secretly desiring another man. Father O'Brien assures Antonio that transferring to a parish in Guatemala is the best thing he can do under the present circumstances. As Gabi shakily denies Carmen's claims, Ricardo arrives and orders his mother to back off.

    Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999

    As she leans over the injured Ben, Maria screams for someone to help her husband. Gregory asks Francesca to use her womanly wiles to seduce A.J. Olivia becomes agitated upon finding Brock~s phone number in A.J.'s room. After they help Ben home, Meg snaps at Maria for acting like she owns the place--not to mention the man who lives there. Cole makes sure Annie knows that he~s been on a fact finding trip to San Francisco. When Francesca balks at bedding A.J., Gregory sweetens the deal by throwing five million dollars into the transfer out of town because he's tired of hurting his children and doesn' t think there is any hope for his marriage.

    Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999

    Gregory presses Francesca to seduce A.J. and then have Olivia find out. Though she likes the result, Francesca doesn't relish the idea of sleeping with A.J. Gregory offers her five million dollars to change her mind. Gregory then receives a call that Brock has been found dead and his death will be played up big in the next edition of the paper. Maria yearns to make Ben love her again but wonders how she can ever make progress with Meg still very much in the picture. Blissfully unaware of how much Gregory already knows about Trey, Caitlin thanks her father for letting Cole believe he is the baby's dad. Gabi tearfully reminds Antonio how much his friendship and support has meant to her but he says goodbye and refuses to talk further about their feelings. Olivia and A.J. make love.

    Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999

    Antonio is upset to hear from his brother that Gabi has accepted a potentially dangerous undercover assignment. Under pressure from Gabi, Antonio admits he's leaving Sunset Beach because he has feelings for her that go beyond mere friendship. Maria and her brothers go to The Deep for a drink and spot Meg having dinner with Ben. Gregory enlists Francesca in his vendetta against Olivia. Ben is attacked by a dissatisfied customer. Cole dials the number he found in Brock's apartment and is surprised to recognize Annie's voice on the other end of the line.

    Monday, Jan. 25, 1999

    As Casey conducts lifeguard recertification tests on the beach, Amy loiters nearby, watching Emily bill and coo with Sean. Olivia is rattled to find Gregory in the hospital lab. Mistaken for a masseur, Cole strokes Florence for info on her former boss. Amy tinkers with the lifeguard test schedule in an effort to solidify her "friendship" with Emily. Virginia orders an appalled Dr. Green to induce labor if necessary to convince Vanessa that her pregnancy is further along than it really is. Vanessa urges Michael to stay and fight for the love they once shared. Later, rereading the letter from Dr. Green, Michael notices that there is no postmark on the envelope. Olivia sighs with relief when Gregory claims he brought Trey to the hospital to make sure his ear infection was all cleared up.

    Friday, Jan. 22, 1999

    A jittery Caitlin can't shake the feeling that she could still lose her husband to Francesca's flirtations. Vanessa tearfully explains to Meg and Casey why she and Michael are on the outs. Frantic to keep Russ from squealing on her, Annie again turns on the seduction act. Cole begins hunting for the elusive Dr. Brock. Tyus tells a seething Michael he's decided to stay in Sunset Beach after all in order to be near his child once it's born. Later, Casey has to break up a shoving match between Michael and Tyus. Fed up with Russ shenanigans, Gregory decides to find a doctor to perform the paternity test on Trey. Virginia suggests to an appalled Vanessa that she give up her child for adoption.

    Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999

    Annie awakens gasping from a nightmare about Gregory taking his revenge on her. Maria tells a stunned Casey she has no intention of giving up the husband she loves. Sara reluctantly agrees to help Tim reclaim her sister's heart if he'll ensure that she winds up with Casey once the dust settles. Gregory is forced to put the paternity test on hold after Caitlin arranges for Olivia to spend the morning with Trey. Following Meg's departure, Maria again takes up residence in Ben's house. Annie dons a disguise and slips into the hospital but is instantly recognized by a nerdy lab tech whose life she made miserable back when they were classmates at boarding school. Caitlin assures a wary Olivia that Gregory took care of the blackmailer. Cole is startled when A.J. speculates that Olivia~s baby is still alive somewhere.

    Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999

    Due to the senate impeachment hearing, NBC is re-airing yesterday's "Sunset Beach." Meg cautions Maria that even though she's moving out she isn't giving up on Ben. In response, Maria replies that she, too, loves Ben and cannot walk away from him. Ricardo strenuously objects when Gabi is moved from a clerical position to one involving potentially dangerous police work. Antonio tries to convince his mother that she's wrong about his motives for leaving town. A.J. asks Gabi to work undercover. Sara urges an irked Meg not to move in with Casey and let Maria strengthen her case with Ben.

    Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999

    Maria admits to Meg that she cannot give up on Ben. Admitting that she's moving back into surf Central, Meg warns that she's not going to give up on Ben either. Still feeling guilty over all that has happened, Ben is astounded to see that Meg has taken off her wedding ring. Ricardo doesn't like it when Gabi offers to work undercover at the Resort. He also confused as to why she's supporting Antonio's decision to go to Guatemala. Antonio is rocked when Carmen announces her suspicion that he is leaving town because of Gabi. She also fears that should he leave town, Gabi will try to ruin the relationship Carmen has with Ricardo. Antonio jumps to Gabi's defense however. Maria confides in Antonio that she can't run away from her feelings.

    Monday, Jan. 18, 1999

    Antonio has another erotic daydream about Gabi. At Surf Central, Casey notices that Meg is no longer wearing her wedding ring. Virginia eavesdrops as Michael lashes out at Vanessa about lying to him for weeks on end and letting him believe the child she's carrying was his. Grateful for Casey's unswerving support, Meg agrees to move back in with her old friend. Ricardo tells his mother that Antonio has put in for a transfer. Meanwhile, Gabi lets Antonio know she's been reassigned by the Sunset Beach police department. Though Vanessa begs Michael to forgive her, he stalks out of the apartment in a rage. Afterwards, Virginia vents her own fury on a hapless Vanessa. Hank quarrels with Meg about her blind loyalty to a man who refuses to let go of his first wife.

    Friday, Jan. 15, 1999

    Intending to surprise Ricardo, Gabi springs out in the darkened surf Central and plants a kiss on a startled Antonio. As Vanessa tearfully assures Michael she wishes the baby were his, Tyus arrives and is shocked to learn that he is the one who is about to become a father. Francesca triumphantly informs Gregory she's got all the dirt on the messy triangle which produced baby Trey. Meanwhile, Cole attempts to shake the truth out of Annie. An enraged Michael lashes out at Tyus, accusing the indignant doctor of deliberately drugging Vanessa in order to take advantage of her.

    Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999

    Forced to explain what really happened, Gregory explains that Caitlin came to him for help in getting rid of Francesca. He adds that she was giving his employee the briefcase full of money to pay of Francesca. Francesca later boasts to Gregory that she knows how to end Cailins marriage. Cole confronts Annie and calls her a liar demanding the truth about the money. Thanks to the phony smoke alarm Sean and Emily are forced to pop out and everyone realizes that they were about to make love. Later, Leo tells Sean that he saw Brad with a pack of matches and says that Brad may have set off the alarm. Virginia arranges for Tyus to show up just as Vanessa admits that the baby is his. Gabi kissed Ricardo but imagines Antonio.

    Wednesay, Jan. 13, 1999

    Virginia forces Dr. Green to falsify documents confirming that Vanessa's pregnancy is nearly five months along. Meanwhile, Vanessa's guilt feelings intensify after she finds Michael and Casey assembling a crib which was a gift from their fellow lifeguards. Annie begs Gregory to let her help him conceal the truth of Trey's paternity. Caitlin concocts a lame excuse to explain her presence in the alley after Cole happens by. An embittered Amy watches Sean and Emily cooing like lovebirds at the Shockwave. As Tyus finishes packing, Vanessa comes by and tries to unburden herself but loses her nerve. Emily is delighted when Sean surprises her with a highly romantic setting for their "first time". Virginia plants Dr. Green's letter where Michael will be sure to stumble across it.

    Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999

    Startled to see Ben kissing Meg, Maria begins to hyperventilate and has to be helped bacNc into bed by a worried Ricardo. As she waits impatiently for her blackmailer to appear, Caitlin is accosted by a knife-wielding stranger who demands that she hand over the briefcase. Though at first outraged by Annie's "lie", Gregory mulls over certain strange events of the last year and realizes that Cole might have fathered Olivia's child after all. After Maria manages to breathe normally again, Meg tells Ben they never should have kissed because he needs to resolve his feelings for his first wife. Realizing the man with the knife is nothing but a common thief, Caitlin fights to maintain her grip on the blackmail money and finally drives the robber off. Olivia admits to Cole that the child she lost could have been his.

    Monday, Jan. 11, 1999

    A seething Gregory pressures Annie to confess that she stole his infant son. Trembling, Annie attempts to deny the accusation but her husband vows to put her behind bars for her crimes. Cole finds a note in Caitlin's handwriting and heads off to meet her but is forced to detour to the emergency room when Trey develops a sudden ear infection. Meanwhile, Sean is puzzled to find his sister loitering in the alley behind the Deep. Meg asks Maria point blank if she still intends to divorce Ben.

    Friday, Jan. 8, 1999

    As Gregory plots his next move, Annie tells Caitlin that Francesca is not their blackmailer. Vanessa realizes she can t hide the truth about her pregnancy too much longer. Sara is unpleasantly surprised to discover that her sister spent the night at Surf Central. The blackmailer phones again and orders Caitlin to come alone when she brings the one million dollar payment to the alley behind The Deep. Cole forces a frightened Francesca into his car, then drives like a bat out of hell to a steep cliff and threatens to kill his former partner in crime if she causes any more trouble for Caitlin. Casey explains to Sara why he must put Meg's problems first while their own relationship simmers on the back burner. Gregory lures Annie up to the nursery, where he reminds his uneasy wife how deeply hurt he was when Olivia "lost" the son she was carrying.

    Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999

    Ben assures Meg that he doesn't blame her for Maria's fall down the stairs and pleads with her to stay with him. She agrees to remain but only if he can assure her that she is the only woman he loves. When he confesses that he can't honestly do that right now, she runs out. Devastated by the latest turn of events, Meg wanders through the pouring rain, thinking back on how her romance with Ben flourished before it so abruptly crashed and burned. Casey manages to find her under the pier and takes her back to Surf Central. Learning of Ricardo's hatred for Ben, Maria tries to convince him that Ben is not blame for what happened to her the night she disappeared. Ricardo guesses that Maria's still in love with her.

    Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999

    Taken in by Francesca's trick; a sobbing Caitlin begs Cole for his forgiveness. As they bask in the afterglow, Gabi thanks Ricardo for waiting until the time was right for both of them. After Antonio phones the inn with news about Maria's accident, Gabi and Ricardo decide to hurry back to sunset Beach. Meg orders Ben to be honest with her about his feelings for Maria. Meanwhile, Maria totters out of her room in search of her husband and collapses into Ben's arms before he can answer Meg's question. Francesca's arrival distracts Cole and Caitlin hastily concocts a lie to cover for her emotional outburst. Gregory returns the Liberty Corporation stock options to his grateful wife, then announces that there is one little catch to his gift. As most of Maria's memory comes flooding back; she tells Ben she knows he's with Meg now.

    Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999

    Cole is unpleasantly surprised to discover that Francesca seems to have taken up permanent residence in Sunset Beach. When Gregory feigns outrage at finding his wife in a hotel room wearing nothing but a few dabs of whipped cream, a flustered Annie claims she set up the "surprise" to add some spice to their love life. In the hospital's waiting room, Casey explains to Carmen and Antonio that Maria stumbled and fell down a flight of stairs. Realizing Maria believes she fell overboard just hours ago, Ben plays along by assuring his wife he will never leave her. Meanwhile, Meg is heartbroken to overhear the tail end of their conversation. Cole rails at Francesca for trying to come between him and the wife he loves. Though a tearful Meg apologizes to Maria's family, Carmen bitterly accuses her of trying to kill her rival for Ben's love.
