    Friday, Oct. 30, 1998

    Carmen happily welcomes Maria home but the young woman is immediately disturbed by sight of the faceless self-portrait she painted long ago. At the Seabreeze, Cole tells an alarmed Francesca he's still determined to pull the heist alone despite Gregory's interference. Clutching a crucifix, an increasingly decrepit Bernie hoarsely warns Gregory that the rubies will ruin his life. Meanwhile, Annie tries on her necklace and is horrified to see a deadly snake coiling around her neck instead. Though Leo cautions him not to trust Amy, Sean decides to help the frightened girl return home to pick up the things she needs. Meg tells Ben she witnessed his recent encounter with Maria at the swings.

    Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998

    Maria announces to Ben and a relieved Meg that she has decided to move in with her family instead of them. Dr. Estrada interrupts and warns Maria that because of rules, Ben must give his permission for her to leave. Ben does so but wishes aloud that she change her mind Gabi confronts Antonio about why he's been evading her lately. With thoughts of her flooding his mind, Antonio denies doing any such thing and suggests she back off from her claims. Emily, Sean and Leo find a disheveled Amy sleeping on a bench at The Deep. She admits that she never went home last night and claims that Hillary and Nielsen are acting strangely. Emily suggests she come home with her but after she accepts, Amy realizes she'll have to go home to retrieve a term paper. Hillary and Nielsen chant without the jewels but find they have no luck calling for the spirits to appear.

    Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998

    Anxious to leave Surf Central, Antonio presses his contractor to move faster on finishing the renovations at the mission. At Cedar Oaks, Tim urges a fuming Maria not to give up on the husband she loved. After making love to Ben, Meg is troubled by a nightmare about Maria returning to reclaim her man. Gabi attempts to enlist Antonio in her plan to throw a surprise birthday party for his brother. As Jimmy looks forward to dressing up in his pirate costume for Halloween, Virginia gleefully envisions herself as a Christmas bride. Meanwhile, Tyus tells Vanessa and Michael he's decided to accept a job offer on the east coast. Though Maria tearfully entreats him to leave her alone, Tim continues to harass her until Ben arrives with Meg and orders him to cease and desist.

    Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998

    Carmen sneaks into her daughter's room at Cedar Oaks and appeals to Maria to let her use her special powers to help the young woman regain the life she deserves. Intent on shielding Meg from any further pain, Ben puts his foot down and refuses Dr. Estrada's request to have Maria move in with them. Olivia orders Annie to cooperate with her plan to have the ruby necklace stolen at Gregory's Halloween party. A haggard Bernie staggers into the party at Shock Wave as his frightened daughter and the other guests look on. Cole and Francesca's scheme to steal the rubies from Gregory's safe hits a snag when they encounter a couple of snarling Dobermans. Dr. Estrada cautions Ben and Meg that Maria could be teetering on the brink of a complete breakdown if she doesn't regain her memory soon.

    Monday, Oct. 26, 1998

    Hank and Joan wonder if it's a bad omen for their new venture when the band scheduled to play at the opening of the waffle shop cancels at the last minute. Hillary orders Bernie not to panic, then suggests that they use Cole's Achille's heel to get what they need. At Grenadine's, Annie flaunts her new ruby necklace in front of Cole and the others. Antonio and Ricardo come to Cedar Oaks to visit their sister but Maria reminds the priest and the cop that she is not the person they remember. Meg glumly informs Sara and Casey that Ben must remain legally married to Maria until her memory returns. Francesca is terrified to hear an eerie and familiar chanting when she picks up her phone. Amy tearfully apologizes to Emily and Sean and confides how upset she's been about her father's peculiar behavior.

    Friday, Oct. 23, 1998

    Unaware of the effect she's been having on Antonio, Gabi struts around Surf Central in her bikini following an early morning dip in the ocean. Haunted by the incessant chanting, a frightened Bernie warns Hillary they're truly doomed unless they retrieve the emeralds and the sapphires. Annie is thrilled by her husband's generous gift. Sara eagerly looks forward to her first real date with Casey. Hillary hisses at Cole that he'll lose the thing he loves most if he comes into possession of the jinxed jewels. Ricardo is pleased to learn that he and Antonio will soon be allowed to visit their sister at Cedar oaks. Hillary repeats her ominous warning to a puzzled Caitlin and Olivia. Gabi tells Ricardo she's confused by Antonio's growing uneasiness every time she's around.

    Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998

    Olivia demands that Annie help her with her latest plan to remove Cole from her daughter's life. Maria thanks an astonished Meg for being her dear friend despite the recent revelations which have shaken them both. Francesca overhears Sydney giving Cole a positive ID on the photo he took of the rubies. Olivia pressures Annie to force Gregory to buy her a certain ruby necklace so that Cole will then be tempted to steal it. Meanwhile, A.J. decides to present the necklace to Caitlin. Maria explains to Ben and Meg how the book of love poems helped trigger another memory. Later, Dr. Estradqa tells Ben that he and Meg are the key elements in her patient's recovery.

    Desperate to reach Emily in time, Sean tries to force his way onto the plane. Finally pulling back from the lip-lock, a blushing Sara apologizes to Casey for throwing herself at him Meg runs off in despair after overhearing Maria telling Ben she loves him Meanwhile, Ben realizes that Maria is only remembering something she said long ago at the swing set. At Surf Central, Virginia hints to Jimmy that Michael might still be a permanent part of their lives. Bette and Leo create a diversion long enough to let Sean sneak aboard the plane Assuring Sara she didn't make him feel a bit uncomfortable, Casey eagerly leans in for another kiss Maria admits to Ben she has no memory of how it felt to be his wife Sean begs Emily not to leave Sunset Beach until he's had a chance to explain about the bogus E-mail.

    Monday, Oct. 19, 1998

    As they race out to search for Maria, Ricardo rails at Ben for ruining his sister's life not once but twice. Meanwhile, on the beach, Maria realizes too late she trusted the wrong strangers when her two new acquaintances suddenly attack her and throw her to the ground. Sean furiously confronts Brad at the Java Web and is dismayed to learn that Emily gave notice the day before. Bette continues to pull delaying tactics to prevent her daughter from boarding a flight out of town. A panicked Maria fights off one of her would-be rapists and tries to flee but is grabbed by the second man. Sara feels deflated when Casey suggests that they invite her sister to join them at the grand re-opening of the Waffle Shop.

    Friday, Oct. 16, 1998

    Hearing A.J., Olivia and Caitlin approach, Cole hastily replaces the gems in his father's safe and slips out onto the window ledge to avoid detection. At Surf Central, Gabi consoles Antonio as he frets over the painful situation involving his amnesiac sister. Meg shrilly demands that Tim admit his part in her wedding day debacle. Meanwhile, Ben hits the roof when he learns that Annie spilled the beans to Maria about the identity of his first wife. Flustered by Gabi's conforting embrace, Antonio pulls away but she again urges him to lean on her for support during his time of need. Tim entreats Meg to believe that everything he's done was to protect her because Ben is poised to run straight back to Maria.

    Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998

    As Caitlin returns to Sunset Beach with Trey, Cole makes a romantic gesture to appease his wife and keep her in the dark about his recent activities. Olivia sneaks into Francesca's room at the Seabreeze Motel to hunt for information which will explain the con woman's lingering connection to Cole. Maria pleads with Meg to reveal what everyone else is trying so desperately to hide. Though Annie assures Carmen her daughter will soon be reunited with her adoring husband, Ben angrily reminds both women that he is now married to a woman he loves. A.J. issues another warning to Francesca. Intrigued to find a photo of Rosario's statue of the madonna, Olivia begins to put two and two together about the ruby necklace A.J. offered her. Annie bitterly suggests to Ben that he would never have given Meg a second glance if he'd known Maria was still alive.

    Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998

    Maria's doctor warns her family and friends that too much information all at once could have serious repercussions for the young woman. Meanwhile, the touch of Ben's hand sends a spark of recognition through Maria, who asks him just how close they were back in the old days. Virginia has to back pedal rapidly after Michael wonders why she was present in the anteroom when Vanessa passed out. On Dr. Estrada's orders, Ben declines to answer Maria question about the true nature of their prior relationship. Gregory continues to pressure Annie to confess that she had a hand in the miraculous resurrection of the first Mrs. Evans. Despite the doctor's warning, a weeping Carmen is unable to restrain herself and tells Maria that she is her mother.

    Monday, Oct. 12, 1998

    Gabi is torn by conflicting emotions watching Ricardo, Antonio and Meg struggle to absorb the news about Maria. Virginia tries to convince a concerned Michael that Tyus doesn't need to examine Vanessa. Maria apologizes to Ben for disrupting his wedding reception. Meanwhile, Annie confidently assures Tim that nothing will stop her best friend from reclaiming Ben once her memory returns. Leo helps Sean search for Emily. At the airport, an unhappy Bette tries one last time to dissuade her daughter from leaving town. Uncertain of her marital status, a sobbing Meg wonders whatever happened to her fairy tale romance. Realizing that Maria doesn't recognize him, Ben gently reveals that he does in fact know her very well. Annie taunts Meg about losing Ben until the embattled bride finally hauls off and slaps her tormentor across the face.
