Kevin tells Garcia he's received a call from the General Homicide killer, who has threatened to celebrate All Souls' Day by claiming another victim. Joe and Karen bring a delighted Neil a Yankee uniform to wear as his Halloween costume. When Lindsey claims that her attorney has advised her not to stand in the way of John's plans to take Neil to Disney World, Joe promises his former flame that he won't let her ex do anything to harm their boy. Victor apologizes to Eve for inadvertently throwing her and his son together. Afterwards, Kevin fills Eve in on the latest development in the saga of the serial killer. Julie confides to Frank why she's still reluctant to attend Matt's Halloween party, but he manages to convince her the time has come to kick up her heels and have some fun.

A steamed Kevin informs Victor that his misbegotten scheme backfired badly. As Karen welcomes Julie back to General Hospital, invitations to a mysterious Halloween party begin to show up in the doctors' mailboxes. Kevin explains to his mortified father how both Lucy and Eve were embarrassed by his meddling. At the firehouse, Lucy shakily confides to Scott how she barged into the middle of an apparently intimate moment between Kevin and Eve. Joe tells Frank how well Karen has already adjusted to the surprising news about Neil's paternity. Later, Frank cautions his brother that Courtney could just be pulling another fast one to get her claws back into an old flame.

After sitting through the lecture on the psychology of serial killers, Ellen and Lucy decide to top off the evening with a girls' night out at the hotel. Victor phones the lighthouse to check on the outcome of his scheme and is delighted when Kevin thanks him for setting up such a romantic evening. Lark prepares a special dinner to officially welcome Julie home. Garcia drops by the Scanlons' house with a peace offering for Julie, who assures him there are no hard feelings and invites the detective to stay for supper. Unaware that his ploy has backfired, Victor triumphantly reports to Mary that thanks to him wedding bells will soon ring out for Lucy and Kevin. Ellen reminds Lucy that she's going to have to choose between the two men in her life, then advises her friend not to make a move in any direction for at least a few weeks.

Unaware that their invitation has gone astray, Victor and Mary eagerly set the stage for a seduction scene at the lighthouse. Meanwhile, Eve dolls up for a private dinner party and tells a startled Chris with whom she intends to spend the evening. Karen confronts Joe after overhearing Frank and Courtney discussing Neil's true parentage. Confirming that he is the boy's father, Joe explains to his fuming fiancee how he was going to tell her all about it as soon as he worked some things out with Courtney. After receiving the note which was intended for Eve, Lucy hurries to the lecture hall just as Kevin disappears out the side door. Happily assuming that the romantic setting was meant for her, Eve gazes around the lighthouse in awe.

After Lucy carefully explains why she isn't going to move back to the lighthouse to be with Kevin, Serena urges her to move into the firehouse instead. Meanwhile, Kevin bitterly informs his father of his suspicion that Lucy wasn t answering her phone because she spent the night with Scott. Lucy and Scotty mull over the possible consequences of living together. Victor invites Mary over for breakfast, then confides to the nurse how worried he is about his son. Recalling a romantic gesture a friend once made for him, Victor tells Mary he's decided to play matchmaker for Kevin and the woman of his dreams. Courtney explains to Joe why she's so reluctant to accompany Neil and John on a two week vacation trip to Disney World.

When Serena innocently inquires about the sleeping arrangements for their slumber party, Lucy volunteers to spend the night on the floor but Scott has another idea in mind. Eve admits to Kevin she lied under oath about her alibi for the day Bennett died. Returning to the hospital for the rest of her shift, Eve takes offense when Chris jokes about her moving to the top of the suspect list once again. At the lighthouse, victor lectures his irked son about giving Lucy a second chance. Lucy is touched when Serena refers to her as her "almost mommy" as they turn in for the night. Lying alone in his bed, Scotty tosses and turns restlessly, while across the hall Lucy also suffers through a sleepless night. When Kevin stays up late, brooding over the identity of the serial killer, victor again presses him to face his real problems head on and stop hardening his heart against the woman he loves.

A beaming Serena leaves the hospital with her dad, who promises the girl there's nothing but smooth sailing ahead for both of them. Courtney is irritated to learn that Neil invited John to go with them to Serena's welcome home party. Meanwhile, Frank explains to Julie why he doesn't trust Courtney's ex- husband. Eve and Kevin commiserate about their respective problems over a cup of coffee in the hospital's cafeteria. Serena is delighted to find her friends and family members waiting to surprise her at the firehouse. Lee draws Scotty aside and offers to represent his son through whatever legal ramifications lie ahead in the wake of his testimony. Joe glares at John as Neil proudly introduces his dad to the other guests at the party.

Lark gives Julie her mother's necklace to wear as a good luck charm while she waits for the jury to return a verdict. Joe confides to Courtney how much he's yearning to tell Neil that he is the boy's real father. Chris slips Frank another dose of DL-56, then is puzzled when the paramedic orders him to keep his distance from Courtney. Kevin warns Eve that the jury has brought in a verdict in the General Homicide trial. Courtney gleefully seduces Frank again to prevent him from heading to the courthouse to hear the outcome of his girlfriend's case. As Julie's friends and colleagues gather in the courtroom, Kevin admits to Garcia he's not sure which way the verdict will come down.

Joe rails at Courtney for keeping secret for eight years the fact that Neil is his son. At the hospital, Serena asks her daddy to hold her hand until she falls asleep. As Julie's trial begins to wind down, closing arguments are made to the jury Courtney admits to Joe that John divorced her after he discovered that Neil could not possibly be his child. Though Courtney begs him to keep her secret until the custody battle is over, Joe wonders how he can in good conscience hide the truth from Karen. As Serena's family and friends gather round her bed, the bandages are removed and the smiling girl reveals that although everything is still blurry she can see everyone there. Courtney consults with a divorce attorney, who warns her that John has a fairly strong case.

Eve returns home with Chris and glumly informs her appalled roommate that Scott seems to have taken up again with Lucy. Meanwhile, at the courthouse, Scotty takes the witness stand and faces tough questions from his unrelenting father. Courtney tells Joe she's mystified by John's real motivation for suddenly instigating a custody battle. Explaining how she doesn't feel safe when she and Neil are alone in the house, Courtney easily convinces Joe to stick around to help out just in case John comes by again. Quizzed about the day Bennett died, Scott admits that he was the first person on the murder scene and that he pocketed the bracelet he found next to Devlin's body.

Lee again entreats his son to do the right thing before Eve goes down in flames and takes Scott's whole future with her. Chris reminds Eve that he expects her to return the favor now that he's committed a felony by perjuring himself on the stand. As she begins her testimony, Eve faces tough questions from Lee and is forced to admit she had access to Julie's sports bottle on the day it was spiked with morphine. Outside the courtroom, Gail urges an exasperated Scott to tell the truth despite the consequences which might befall his girlfriend. When new evidence emerges linking Dr. Lambert to the attempt on Matt's life, Eve begs her friend and colleague to believe that she had nothing to do with his near-fatal electrocution.

Lucy and Scott shrug off Gail and Lee's questions about their misadventures in Florida following the plane crash. Courtney orders John to leave but he reminds her that he has no intention of departing unless she and Neil come with him. The Baldwins regretfully break the bad news about Brenda to Lucy, who is devastated to learn that her friend is gone. Serena's surgeon tells his young patient's family that he is cautiously optomistic about her chances for a full recovery. John admist that he made a terrible mistake in turning his back on his family when Neil was sick, then entreats Courtney to give him a chance to make it up to her and the boy. Meanwhile, Joe and Frank debate how best to deal with the unwelcome return of Neil's absentee dad.

Unconvinced by John's show of affection for Neil, Frank offers to help Courtney obtain phony documents so she and her son can vanish from Port Charles without a trace. Thrilled to hear from her dad after the phone lines are finally repaired, Serena reports to Scotty that she's heading into surgery that very day for another corneal transplant. Joe urges Courtney not to flee, reminding her how Neil may never forgive her if she deprives him of the opportunity to get to know his father. Victor and Kevin find themselves seated across the aisle from Lucy and Scotty as all four travelers board the next flight back to Port Charles. Joe accuses his brother of arranging for the bogus passports and identity cards in order to get Courtney out of their house and out of their lives.

As an enraged Kevin storms out of the room, Lucy dashes after him in a frantic effort to explain why he found her in bed with Scott. During a breaNc in their shifts at General Eospital, Karen admits to Joe how scared she is about her kid sister's second corneal transplant. After Joe discloses why he gave Courtney a hug at the nurses station, Karen regrets ever mistrusting her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Courtney receives another message from John and asks FranNc to help her and Neil escape before her ex arrives in Port Charles. Kevin bitterly informs Lucy he can never forgive her now. Out in the hall, victor snipes at Scott when the attorney demands to know what's happened to Eve.
