Tony tells a wary Katherine he has no intention of ruining her fundraiser. Complimenting her on how she's managed to claw her way back into social prominence in Port Charles, Tony lays on the flattery in an effort to disarm his hostess. Thrilled to have won Nikolas in the bachelor auction, Emily lends her brooding friend a sympathetic ear as he explains why a troubling family situation has been occupying his thoughts of late. While dining with Helena, Jerry gets the matriarch of the Cassadine clan talking about her distaste for her surviving son. V draws Ned's name at the auction and takes the opportunity to remind him that she expects his full cooperation the next time she books him into a club.

Carly snipes at Robin for deciding to attend the charity bachelor auction even though the organizers of the bash made it clear that Jason was not welcome. Ned lends a sympathetic ear to Jax and advises him to forego the auction if he'll find it too painful to participate. Nikolas asks his startled brother if he can crash at his place for a while. Stefan gloomily agrees to lend a hand when Katherine asks for his last minute help with her fundraiser. Bobbie extends an olive branch to Monica as 1998 draws to a close. Though Carly looks forward to spending New Year's Eve alone with the object of her affections, Jason persuades her to go to the auction instead to support a good cause.

Bobbie gives Mac some good news--along with his walking papers--after his latest blood work comes back clean. Lila is forced to referee yet another quarrel at the mansion as the Quartermaines hash out their differences following their gate- crashing visit to the penthouse. Jax fumes at being labeled "eligible" in preparation for the New Year's Eve charity fund- raising bachelor auction. Tony goes to Spoon Island to ask Stefan to approve his reinstatement at GH. Nikolas bitterly rejects Katherine's claims, informing her he doesn't believe a word of her tale. An angry Emily puts the Quartermaines on notice that she'll never again tell them the truth about her association with Jason.

Certain Nikolas will despise him once the truth comes out, Stefan asks Laura to be his advocate if their son chooses to harden his heart. Emily informs her disgruntled family that they are not welcome at the small birthday party Carly is throwing for Michael. Meanwhile, Robin's early return to the penthouse annoys Carly, who complains to Bobbie that the interloper is going to ruin the party for everyone. Mike explains to an irked Sonny why Jason sent him to "babysit". As his son rails at him, Mike wonders aloud if there's any chance they will ever be able to put old ghosts to rest. Katherine attempts to cover her tracks with her mentor by claiming that all the time she's spending with Helena's grandson has been devoted to working on a charity event.

Luke lets Jerry know he's wise to the deal he struck with Stefan. Felicia maintains her vigil beside her husband's hospital bed. Jason returns to the cottage and tells a pleased Carly he's moving everyone back to the penthouse for safekeeping. Explaining why Sonny must come back to Port Charles, Jason confides that he will be helping his old boss out for a while, which will mean a return to their former way of life. Luke warns Jerry that he will give his sister the bad news about his business arrangement if her boyfriend doesn't do it first. Stefan gives Laura a photograph of Nikolas when he was just six years old. Jason asks Mike to go stay with Sonny until he's ready to make his move.

As her birthday arrives, Laura receives a large bouquet of daisies from Stefan. At GH, Bobbie tries to reassure a frightened Felicia that Mac has at least an even chance of surviving the second surgery. Sonny bristles when Jason begins cleaning up the casino's messy finances which have suffered from long neglect. After apologizing for his latest outburst, Sonny admits to Jason that he seems to be losing his grip on reality. Marcus demands some answers from Mike about the possibility of a looming gang war between Moreno and Sonny. Johnny prevents an impatient Carly from exiting the cottage, reminding Michael's mother that she could become an easy target if she leaves the premises.

Audrey lectures her granddaughter after catching Lucky and Liz kissing on her front porch. Once the shooting stops at the Outback, Felicia rushes to Mac's side and is horrified to see that he's been badly wounded. Meanwhile, Robin pulls away from a concerned V, warning that she's HIV positive and must not allow her blood to touch anyone who isn't already infected. Audrey asks a fuming Elizabeth why she seems so determined to spend every waking hour with Lucky. While Nikolas and Katherine enjoy another "work" session in her hotel suite, Luke waits out in the hall for Stefan to arrive. Robin calls the cottage to warn Carly that she and Michael might become the next targets.

Sonny's assistant cautions Jason that her boss has started drinking and becomes violent on occasion for no apparent reason. Later, Jason is concerned to find Sonny in a badly disheveled state, sitting in the midst of the office he just trashed. Trying to engage his old friend's interest with small talk about Robin and Michael, Jason rambles on until Sonny finally erupts in anger. Emily and Nikolas bring Lulu over to Lucky's apartment to visit with him and Elizabeth as they finish trimming their little Christmas tree. At the outback, V keeps an unwitting Ned in the dark about the identity of his replacement. After Ned volunteers to help her save face by taking the stage himself, V grabs the mic and triumphantly introduces Chicago to the band's admiring audience.

Alex triumphantly reports to Ned that she's managed to acquire Acme sprockets for ELQ. A.J. and Edward team up in an effort to dissuade Monica from posting bond for Alan until he's been fully detoxed. Meanwhile, at the jail, Mac pressures Alan to cooperate before Moreno unleashes another wave of terror which could claim even more innocent lives. Elizabeth returns rejuvenated from her vacation at the spa. Luke is intrigued to witness a surprisingly close encounter between Katherine and Nikolas on the docks. After Monica pays his bail, Alan explains why he must go through recovery alone and on his own terms. Lucky plays Elizabeth the message Dara left about Tom plea bargaining to a lesser charge.

Carly gleefully informs Robin that she and Jason have decided the time isn't right to separate Michael from his father. Unaware that her lover has already worked for Stefan, Bobbie advises Jerry to steer clear of any business dealings with the Cassadines. Helena eggs Katherine on as she faces Luke for the first time since her fall from the parapet. Nikolas explains to a wary Stefan how he and Lucky have begun to bond as brothers. Warning his "nephew" that Luke will stop at nothing to destroy their family, Stefan cautions Nikolas to watch his step in the days to come. Katherine tells Luke she has no intention of turning him in--at least not yet.

Katherine starts to blurt out her memory to Nikolas but elects to keep mum instead. Lucky assures his grateful mother he has no problem letting Nikolas bond with Lesley Lu. Felicia hesitantly reveals to her irate husband how she was nearly framed for murder while he was out of town. At Jake's, Jason informs Carly he has no intention of betraying Robin's trust by sleeping with her. Hurt, Carly walks away from Jason and begins flirting openly with a man seated at the bar. Lucky reminds a disgruntled Luke why he won't buy into his father's longstanding blood feud with the Cassadines. After persuading Carly to come back to his table, Jason explains to her why his connection to Robin is so strong and enduring.

Trying to get a rise out of Stefan, Luke hints that he's let the cat out of the bag to Nikolas about his father's true identity. Meanwhile, as he brings Lesley Lu home, Nikolas tells Lucky that this is the anniversary of the day Luke killed his father. Stefan calls Luke's bluff and calmly assures his longtime nemesis that his "nephew" will rise unfettered to his rightful place as the head of the Cassadines clan. Tony intrudes upon Bobbie and Jerry's romantic candlelight dinner to announce that he's been granted a hearing to consider overturning the protection order which has kept him away from his son for far too long. At Jake's, Carly drapes herself all over a male admirer on the dance floor in hopes of making Jason jealous enough to show a little interest in her himself.

As Jason ponders his next move, Felicia drops by the garage with questions about Moreno. Luke snarls at Nikolas after finding him playing with Lesley Lu in the park. Tammy goes to the jail to visit Alan and urges him to believe that she didn't kill his drug dealer. Explaining why he moved the body and took the rap, Alan tells Tammy he wanted her to have a chance at a fresh start because his own life is basically over. Jason suggests to Felicia that she and Mac were targeted by Moreno because they're Robin's family and therefore a direct conduit straight back to him. Monica and Edward finally fill Lila and Emily in on the sordid details of Alan's legal troubles.

After Lucky and Nikolas drag Elizabeth out of the courtroom, Tom's attorney continues with his cross-examination of Emily, accusing her of conspiring with her friends to besmirch an innocent photographers name. Jason tells Carly he knows she deliberately neglected to pass along Robin's message. Tammy comes to the blues club to ask Luke for help dealing with Moreno and his goons. Jason warns Carly not to mess with Michael's head or to put him in any jeopardy with her foolish schemes. Tammy explains to an astonished Luke how Alan landed in jail on a murder rap. The working girl's story gets even stranger when she reveals that the nice lady who tried to help her out is none other than the police commissioner's wife, Felicia. Jason faces a quandary after Johnny gets roughed up by several of Moreno's men. Dara arranges a plea bargain with Tom's attorney.

Elizabeth bristles when Lucky suggests it might be better if she wasn't present in the courtroom during Tom's trial. Though Alan asks him not to call the Quartermaines, Mac phones Edward to let him know that his son has been arrested for the murder of his drug dealer. Jax encourages V to leave Ned's employ and come work for him once again. Lucky promises Liz he'll do everything he can on the witness stand to provide her with a voice in the case against her attacker. Though A.J. and Edmund consider letting Alan rot in jail, Monica vows never to turn her back on her husband no matter how low he's sunk. V tries to maneuver the Jax brothers into a reconciliation.

Laura asks Stefan not to encourage their son to have pipe dreams about her becoming a permanent resident at Windemere. Meanwhile, upstairs in Ms. Bell's hotel suite, Nikolas and Katherine's long-simmering lust finally erupts into red hot flame. Tammy thanks Felicia for giving her a place to stay but frets about facing Moreno's wrath once she returns to the mean streets to ply her trade. As they bask in the afterglow, Katherine and Nikolas dreamily discuss where their steamy relationship might be heading. Jax frowns in disapproval after overhearing what sounds like an intimate moment passing between Jason and Carly. Mac begins to wonder why his wife is so late for their dinner date at the Port Charles Grill.

Laura bristles when Bobbie snipes at her for spending so much time on Spoon Island. Meanwhile, Stefan cautions Nikolas that Luke may be even more dangerous than usual in his present state of mind. When Nikolas wishes his mother could stay at Windemere with them, Stefan hints that he's already taken steps to make such an arrangement possible. Carly throws herself into redecorating Michael's room and suggest to Jason that she and the baby aren't ready to be separated from him just yet. Felicia finds Tammy bruised and weeping outside Alan's door. After inviting the hooker into her room, Felicia learns that her new acquaintance was savagely beaten by a neighborhood pimp when she refused to join his stable.

An agitated Laura returns to Spoon Island and demands to know if Stefan set her up to find out the truth about Katherine's fall. Encountering Luke at Kelly's, Tony explains to his former brother-in-law that he only wants access to his son. When Luke expresses a concern that Bobbie not be hurt again, Tony drily suggests that he take up the matter with Jerry Jax. Carly experiences a momentary panic when Jason leaves her alone in the park with Michael for the first time. Nikolas comes to Katherine's hotel suite on the pretext of working on their new project for the AIDS wing at GH. Luke warns a frantic Alexis that her half-brother is close to proving that the two of them conspired to bump off Helena.

Tony chides Bobbie after coming upon her spending an afternoon in the park with Jerry and Lucas. When Nikolas returns to the Quartermaine mansion, ostensibly to visit Emily yet again, Edward asks him straight out what the young man's intentions are towards his granddaughter. Elizabeth admits to Lucky that she's still upset about her conversation with Tom at the jail. Dara tells Justus how much she misses him, both personally and professionally. Tony gleefully informs his ex that their court- appointed shrink has filed a glowing report on the state of his mental health. Nikolas assures a skeptical Edward that he thinks of Emily as his little sister.

After secretly palming the pill, Felicia realizes she might still be in trouble when her guest reveals that he slipped something into her drink to intensify the rush from the second drug. Johnny drops by the bike shop to ask Jason for help with Moreno now that the organization's new boss is pressing him for protection money. Worried that Jason will get sucked back into the dangerous life he left behind, Mike urges his young friend to take great care when he meets with Moreno. Carly tells Bobbie she~s going to become an interior decorator as soon as she and Michael have Jason all to themselves once again. Though her mother cautions her to face reality, Carly confidently assures Bobbie that Robin is already out of the picture for good.
