Furious to see Mike and Carrie kissing, Sami confronts her sister after Mike leaves and advises her that she is obviously upset because she is still married to Austin and can't give up her lover. Carrie tells her sister to mind her own business. After Marlena explains to Laura Hope's strange behavior lately, Mike assures Marlena that he truly believes that he and Carrie are meant to be together. Hoping Sami will agree to come to the wedding, Marlena makes an effort to apologize for their past problems. Eric picks up the rings for John's wedding.

Eric bumps into Nicole and reveals that he's returning the engagement ring. When he claims that he knows she still loves him, Nicole denies it and warns Eric that he doesn't know her at all. Claire tries to keep an eye on her daughter but Ali catches her and angrily orders her mother to back off. When Nancy reveals Ali has been scrawling terrible things about Carrie on bathroom walls, Claire warns Nancy and Craig that Ali has been "moody" lately. Though he claims that everything will be fine after Ali is examined, Laura advises Mike that her affair with his father was a mistake and urges him to learn from her mistakes. Marlena asks Carrie to stand up at her wedding but Carrie claims that she cannot because of all that is going on with her, Austin and Mike.

Billie learns who Nicholas is. Kate upsets Vivian when she announces that there no office for her at Titan. Insisting that Vivian's decision was his idea, Nicholas talks with Kate about Vivian and claims that the "dying" woman obviously just wants to feel needed during her final days. Kate changes her mind, thanks to Nicholas, and finds her a place to stay but advises Billie that she will keep an eye on her rival. With plans to be married tomorrow, Marlena and John reminisce about the past 13 years of good times. He surprises her with a charm for the bracelet he gave her. Bo follows Hope as she rushes to the townhouse, running every red light in her way as she tries to get back to switch the paintings.

John refuses to tell Hope any of his wedding plans. Hope then pretends to pass out. when Marlena accuses him of planning to interfere in her wedding to John, Stefano denies it and claims that he wants them to live happily ever after. To prove his point, he surprises Marlena with a wedding gift of a pair of jewel encrusted opera glasses which remind Marlena of their past. Sami and Carrie argue about Mike's role in Carrie's marital troubles with Carrie defending Mike and his actions. Alice meets with Ali at the Java Cafe and asks her about the lawsuit she filed against Mike. Ali states that she is suing him because Mike backed down from his promise to appoint her head nurse.

Sami offers her help to a devastated Carrie but Carrie insists that it's hopeless. Sami suggests that Austin would drop the divorce if she would only tell him that she loves him. While with John, Marlena remembers when she first realized she was attracted to him. John boasts that they are going to have the best wedding Salem has ever seen but won't tell her any of his plans. Hope works on finishing the final painting. Stefano announces to Rolf and Hope how he intends to get John away from Marlena before they are married and asks Hope to find out all she can about the upcoming wedding plans. At the mall, Hope embraces John after running into him. Marlena is startled to come face-to-face with Stefano.

Lucas is taken aback when Nicole reveals that Brandon is her brother. Brandon quickly accepts when Lucas offers him a place to stay. After Brandon leaves, Lucas explains to Nicole that he does love and care for her but states that if he loses custody of will, he will give her a divorce. She claims that she doesn't want a divorce. While Eric goes off to get some drinks at the Cheatin' Heart, Brandon enters, spots Greta and tries to pick her up. Eric returns, puts his arm around Billie and boasts that she is with him. Later, seeing Lucas and Nicole kissing, Eric promises Billie that he is going to find out what power Lucas has over Nicole. John has another memory that sets off his violent side.

Lucas spots Nicole in the park with Brandon and wonders what the two are up to. Brandon tickles her and she falls to the ground, laughing. He then suggests that she help herself by tolerating her husband so that she can enjoy the good life while she can. Lucas surprises Nicole. Carrie shows Mike that she was served with divorce papers and can't imagine that Austin would move so quickly. Mike suddenly kisses her, happy that she is ending her marriage. However, Carrie accuses him of pushing her away by demanding her resignation. Sami and Austin continue their dinner as she apologizes for inviting Carrie. Austin assures her that Carrie is probably with Mike. Eric and Billy play pool and discuss why Eric left Colorado to return to Salem.

Dining at Tuscany Carrie and Austin manage to cover their uncomfortableness from an unsuspecting Sami. However, when Carrie is served divorce papers as her entree, she starts crying and runs from the restaurant, leaving Austin to explain to Sami that they are ending their marriage. Discussing the lawsuit Ali filed against him and the hospital, Mike stuns Mickey with the news that he did sleep with Ali. He makes matters worse by confessing that he also "joked" to her about giving her the head nurse position after they made love. Mickey asks if he knows of anything about Ah that might give them an edge in the case. Mike boasts that she is delusional, obsessive and changes moods like she changes shoes.

Craig worries when Nancy again mentions her desire to end their scheme against Mike, especially because of how Ali's been acting. Craig assures his wife that everything will work out fine, thanks to Clair calling the shots. When he pushes for her support, Nancy finally gives in. Ali hints to Carrie that her desire for Mike is about to come to an end but then doesn't explain why. Carrie questions Mike about Ah's strange statement but he decides not to tell her about Ali's lawsuit. As Ali listens from outside the door. Mike again confesses his love for Carrie but admits that he needs to know that she is through with Austin forever. Ali is furious by Mike's words while Carrie sadly says goodbye to Mike and her job at the hospital.

Austin asks Ali all she knows about Mike and Carrie's relationship and suggests that Mike and Carrie were doing more than kissing when he saw them together. When he asks if she was with them in Las Vegas, she evades the question and claims that she doesn't know who sent the e-mailed photos to him. She does go on and explain that Mike tooNc her to bed and made certain promises which he later never kept. Austin urges her to fight to win Mike back. Sami suggests to Carrie that they make an attempt at a new beginning. Stefano asks Lexie how much time Vivian has left to live. Lily introduces Greta to Nicholas. Vivian is not happy to see Lily join her party. Marlena explains to Eope that John is suffering from a terrible headache due to a memory of being a mercenary for Stefano.

Ali advises Nancy and Craig that Mike doesn't understand why she is suing him. She claims that she still loves Mike. Mike advises Carrie that they have got to stop seeing each other and for that reason, she should quit her job. Later, Sami walks into her office and finds Carrie with tears in her eyes, writing her letter of resignation. Celeste helps Vivian prepare for the party. when he assumes that she is Victor's nurse, Nicholas flatters Kate and then is shocked to find out who she really is. A sarcastic Kate urges Vivian to hurry up and die from her disease. Vivian warns Victor that Titan is on the road to disaster, thanks to Kate. Victor's furious to hear that Stefano gave Vivian 49 percent of the stock.

Marlena advises Carrie that for the sake of the hospital and for Mike, she should stay away from him for the time being. When Ali claims that she's suing him because he backed away from his promise to appoint her head nurse, Mike suggests that he made the promise in the heat of passion. Later, she grabs him close to her and kisses him as she offers to settle their problem privately. Mike announces that he doesn't love her nor is he interested in her. She claims that she knows he's in love with Carrie and vows to make them both pay for the pain she's suffered. Austin is caught off guard when Sami reveals Lucas' offer to share custody of Will. When she admits that she's thinking of turning down the offer, Austin urges her to consider the consequences of her decision.

Stefano is very upset when he finds that Hope has not finished the last painting. She claims that she is close but in reality, she hasn't even started it. He insists that he needs all of the paintings done by tonight. When she announces that she is giving away all the paintings tonight, Nicholas asks Vivian what she'll do if her plans for Stefano backfire. He suggests that if she angers Stefano enough, he might try to kill her. Sami and Austin enjoy her freedom as they Walk around the mall. They run into D.A. Palmer who apologizes for the mistake he made. Next, Sami bumps into Kate. Pointing out that she seems to keep lying to him, Roman asks Eric when he is going to wake up and see the kind of person Nicole really is.

Roberto declares to Roman that Sami is guilty of killing Franco and insists there was no hitman. Roman is furious with him and later collapses in Kate's arms. Feeling guilty, Kate tries to tell Roman something but Roberto then asks to speaNc to him again. But before he can talNc, Roberto passes out. Lucas rushes bacNc to Salem and heads to the prison. Before he can reach the prison, protesters force him to leave his car and walk the rest of the way. Sami stares in disbelief at the TV report of how she is going to die by lethal injection. Sami hands Marlena a letter to be given to will once he is older. Marlena then holds her daughter, comforting her by singing her a lullaby.
