Due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no summary of "Days of Our Lives" on Monday, May 31. Marlena is shaken as she watches a reporter on TV counting down the time to Sami's death. Kate manages to convince Nicole and Lucas to go on their honeymoon today so that Lucas won't find out about Sami's appointment with death tonight. The two agree to go to the Green Mountain Lodge. Nicole stares at a photo of Lucas and imagines it's one of Eric. Roman waits for word on Roberto. Mickey remains at the state capitol as he fights to get a stay of execution for Sami. Sami's left in a daze as a bitter warden describes how she is going to die tonight. She's then examined by a doctor who determines that she is healthy enough to be executed tonight.

Threatened by Hope, Rolf explains that he can't remove the chip in John's head unless they're in Stefano's secret room. Hope promises to trick John into entering the room. Finding a tipsy Eric crying out for Nicole, Lucas orders him to get off his property and calls him a loser like his sister. Eric learns from Roman about Sami's moved-up death decree. Nicole reminds Lucas that she doesn't love him and only married him because it was convenient. Kate calls victor about Sami's sentence and her fear that Lucas will find out. victor comes up with a solution. Palmer orders Sami taken back to the prison to await death. Marlena warns the D.A. that he will have to face the day when Sami is eventually proved innocent.

Nick joins Eric at the bar where they discuss failed love. Billie urges Nicole to go to Eric who she thinks is an amazing guy. Early in the morning, a tipsy Eric bangs on Lucas' door, demanding to see Nicole. Gregory calls Kate with the news that Sami is going to be given a lethal injection tomorrow. Arriving at the hospital after the call about Roberto, Roman informs Roberto that Sami will be killed in less than 24 hours unless he clears her name. Meanwhile, Kate calls Victor to talk about her latest visit with Roberto. Abe gives Marlena and Sami the bad news. Bo boasts to John that he has convinced Victor to attend Vivian's dinner party and he hopes that they will then learn the secrets about the townhouse.

Hope confides to Bo that she sometimes wishes she was Gina because of her independence and spirit. She complains about Bo always trying to control her. John asks Marlena to marry him tomorrow and she finally agrees. when she hears this from him by phone, Hope hangs up on John and vows to stop the wedding. Hope argues with Bo that they are not the same people they used to be and she only wants to be with the man she truly loves. Lexi spots Kate at the hospital and listens as she claims that she's there to see a family friend. Kate then advises Rosa that if she does what she asks, she will never have to worry about money again. After Kate leaves, Roberto finally comes to but demands to see Roman.

Bo upsets Hope when he brings her roses. The two end up arguing about Stefano. He assures her that he is never going to stop fighting for the love they once shared. Rosa calls Kate and asks her to rush to the hospital. Taylor is shocked to learn that Nicole is married to Lucas but still is in love with Eric. When she tells her sister that she only loves herself, Nicole slaps her sister. Comparing notes about lost love, Billie suggests to Eric that if Nicole chose money over love, then he's better off without her. Eric then arrives to see Nicole. Roman explains to Sami that it was Tracey's mention of the commune that led him to her train. She pleads with him to allow her to disappear with her son.

When Vivian offers to have the dinner party at the townhouse, Stefano refuses. Nicholas reminds Stefano that it is Vivian's house, not his. Stefano then invites Nicholas to have dinner with them. Victor decides to go to the party and tells Bo of his plans. Bo then calls Vivian with the good news and asserts that the "ball is in her court now." Hope tells Rolf that she wants John back in her life but the scientist claims that it is impossible. He advises her that John will suffer headaches until the suppression device in his brain is deactivated. John hugs Marlena and while he tells her that he can't do anything more for Hope, he thinks to himself that he also can't stop thinking about her.

Roman arrives at Kate's house and learns that will is missing. He announces that Sami has escaped from prison. Abe arrives and reports that they are keeping the media out of this in hopes of finding her first. In the backyard, a Jeep's tire tracks are found. Tracey gives Sami her own train tickets to Canada. Using the name "Dorothy Brown" and her son "Andrew," Sami heads for the Great white North. John recognizes Hope as Gina and tells her that Gina is dead. He insists that he cannot go back to the past and adds that he loves Marlena. He urges her to let the past go. Vivian updates Nicholas on her marriage to Jonsey, his will and her inheritance.

Kate talks with Roberto's sister Rosa and hints that Roman can't be trusted. She asks Rosa to call her when Roberto comes to if she truly wants to protect her brother. Lucas finds will on the bed, asking for his mother. He puts him back in his own bed and is unaware that Sami was just there. Sami then takes will again. John fails to recognize the silver compact but asks to look at it so he can study it further. Hope claims that it is a duplicate she had made. He remembers Princess Gina putting on her lipstick~ and using the compact. When he reveals the memory, Hope kisses him. Carrie shocks Mike with the revelation that someone took photos of them kissing in Las Vegas and sent them to Austin.

With Tracey driving the getaway car, Sami makes her escape and quickly heads for Kate's house. Lucas pleads with his mother to get Sami off death row. Sami breaks into Kate's house and holds her son for the first time in a long time. As she holds him, she hears Lucas coming upstairs. watching Vivian, Stefano wonders how a dying woman could run into her nephew's arms with such zest. Vivian realizes she made a mistake and continues with her "sick act." Carrie confides to Mike that she has broken her husband's heart. While he's sorry his rival got hurt, Mike suggests that they can be together now. Ah eavesdrops as Mike confesses his love to Carrie. Back in town from the convention, Craig suggests to Claire that he feels Mike is going to fight to win Carrie's love.

Roman urges Carrie to forget about her troubles with Austin and show up in court to help her sister. Stefano spots John at Salem Place, suffering from a throbbing migraine headache which John blames on his missing memory. He asks him what his past has to do with Hope and suggests that whatever he uncovers may ruin his relationship with Marlena. Later, Stefano warns Hope that she is taking a terrible risk and claims that it could backfire. Hope reveals to Lili that she had a duplicate compact made. Mike apologizes to Ah for causing her so much pain. Sensing her daughter will forgive him, Claire reminds Ali that Mike is the enemy. In L.A., Craig is offered the Chief of Staff position at Denver General but he turns the offer down, boasting that he has other plans.

Billie is relieved when Greta assures her that she won't tell Hope about the engraved compact. As they talk, Hope spots them together and realizes that Billie is holding the missing compact. Bo and Hope then join Greta and Billie for coffee. Hope plays on their feelings by moaning that without any real evidence that once belonged to Gina, she'll never get her memory back and live a regular life. Knowing that Nicole cashed her check, Kate is confused when Lucas calls to report that Nicole has disappeared. Nicole considers running away to end her conflict over Lucas, Eric and her past. Running into Austin at Salem Place, Eric admits that he is hopeful that he and Carrie will win custody of Sami's son.

Taylor guesses to a worried Eric that Nicole left behind her engagement ring on purpose. Claiming that he trusts Nicole, Eric asks her to be happy for him and her sister. The two men outside the hotel remember Nicole from Los Angeles and angrily point out that while they did three years of hard time, she didn't. When they claim she owes them money and try to take her purse, Lucas angrily orders the police to take the men away. Mike learns that Carrie checked out of the hotel. He runs into Nancy and Craig who lovingly boast that they just renewed their marriage vows. When Mike asks him to read his speech at the conference, Craig boasts that he's ready to step into his shoes anytime.

On the way to Chicago, Nicole advises Lucas that she needs "room to breathe" when he presses her to marry him and live a life of luxury. When Lucas threatens to go separately to Chicago, Nicole apologizes and states that she will enjoy his company. Kate calls and urges Nicole to accept her $5 million check before it's to late. Outside the Chicago hotel where they are staying, two men recognize Nicole. Roman's upset when he learns from Eric that he and Nicole are engaged. He argues with his son about his decision but then backs down. John takes Marlena and the kids on a picnic but during the adventure, John suffers another throbbing headache. Greta notices a half-smoked cigarette like her mother used to smoke in the ashtray in Hope's room.
