Erica returns to Enchantment and finds Vanessa making herself right at home. Liza rails at David for trailing her to the inn and intruding upon her private time with Adam. Brooke and Jackson get stuck in a downpour after seeing Kit off at the airport. Tad and Dixie discuss plans for their next wedding and decide to set the date for May 20th. Out of Liza's earshot, Adam offers David ten million dollars for his silence but the doctor insists the time has come to drop the delicious bombshell he's been carrying around for so long. Facing angry questions from Erica, Vanessa claims she was forced to step in to save the day after the rest of the Enchantment staff bungled the new ad campaign. Janet and Dimitri arrive and voice their well-founded suspicions about Vanessa, but Erica stuns them by turning a deaf ear.

Hayley happily daydreams about being pregnant. With Adrian in tow, opal interrupts a board meeting at Cortlandt Electronics and informs a sputtering Palmer she's come to claim her half of the company. Adam returns to Liza's place bearing a spring bouquet for his bride-to-be and is annoyed to find both Martin brothers already there. When Tad confronts him about Barry's attempt to hire a spy, Adam admits putting his attorney up to the task but defends his actions as a necessary evil. After opal introduces him as her technical consultant, Adrian explains to the board of directors why they need to immediately address the looming Y2K problem. Pressed by Tad and Jake, Adam claims that the files Barry's goons retrieved proved to be worthless.

Adam tries to convince Liza to delegate all her work to underlings at the TV station so she can concentrate fully on baby Colby's last few weeks in the womb. Marian decides to use the cash she fished out of the lake to pay for her daughter's wedding but Stuart gently reminds his wife that the money isn't actually theirs to spend. Leslie reports to David that the files he gave her for safekeeping were stolen during a break-in at her law office. Opal fills Adrian in on Adam's strange reaction to the facts of their family connection. Jake offers Ryan some unsolicited advice about saving his marriage. Tad tells Liza why he and his brother indulged in some breaking and entering. Stuart persuades Marian that they have to make an honest effort to find the money's rightful owner.

Jackson thanks Brooke for forcing him to get out and enjoy life a little. Pleasantly surprised to find "Axel" emceeing Amateur Night at the comedy club, Brooke dares Jackson to get up on stage and crack a few jokes. Ryan and Gillian share another moment of passion. Adam resorts to desperate measures to ensure that Adrian doesn't uncover his secret. Meanwhile, Adrian and Tad get caught in the act by a cleaning lady as they snoop through Leslie's files. Talking fast, Tad convinces the excited fan of "The Cutting Edge" that he and his "director" are conducting research for an investigative reporting piece the show is doing. Vanessa warns a skeptical David that he has a formidable enemy in Adam Chandler.

Adam fears he'll lose both Liza and their unborn child once David drops his devastating bombshell. Ryan and Hayley spend the night sacked out on the floor of the club after commiserating with one another about the twists of fate which have set their lives spinning. Raquel awakens and beams to see both Mateo and Max sleeping peacefully next to her hospital bed. David accuses his mother of exploiting Erica's vulnerability but reminds Vanessa that she'll be out on her keester once Ms. Kane catches on to her game. Hayley offers Ryan the chance to make a fresh start by working for her and Mateo at the new club. Adam arranges for some hasty nuptials to ensure that Colby will arrive in the world as a Chandler.

When Erica catches her house guest rifling through her desk at Enchantment, Vanessa claims she was merely screening the fan mail to ensure that nothing upsetting got through. Liza offers Ryan his old job back but he fears that all the negative publicity surrounding him in recent weeks will reflect badly on the station. Adam icily advises David to lay down his cards if he truly believes he holds a winning hand. A weary Adrian reports to Belinda that Braden has fled to Singapore and can't be extradited. Although badly shaken by a disturbing piece of hate mail, Erica assures Vanessa that every celebrity inevitably attracts the attention of a few sick wackos. when David continues to taunt him, Adam counters by hinting that Jerry Reeves might like to hear about the messy suicide of the doctor's late father.

Mateo stays close to Raquel as the doctors begin to run a battery of tests. Meanwhile, Hayley bemoans to Gillian how her life has turned topsy-turvy just when it seemed like everything was finally going to work out right. Adam lures Liza to the valley Inn for one last romantic evening before the baby arrives. A sneering David interrupts and drops some ominous hints to Adam about a special wedding gift he's prepared. Vanessa slyly arranges for a reporter to slip into her hostess' house for an exclusive interview. Erica rapidly shows the man the door but is rattled when he remarks upon her status as a washed-up has-been. Mateo and Hayley breathe a sigh of relief after Jake reports that Raquel's spinal injury will heal in time.

Tad and his betrothed celebrate wonderful news after Joe discloses that Dixie's heart condition has been completely cured. As he shows Max around the space for the new club, Mateo explains to the boy why shuttling between his parents is the best solution to their dilemma. Raquel sadly asks Hayley to imagine how she would feel if she had to give up the man she loves more than life itself. Gillian shyly presents Ryan with a gift for their first anniversary, then is touched when he gives her the lucky medallion he's been wearing for years. David's warning backfires when Erica declares that she's issuing an invitation to his mother to move in. Warning that Vanessa is a monster who enjoys nothing more than destroying the people she envies, David advises Erica to watch her back.

Though Kit appeals to her brother to reconsider his decision to resign, Jackson explains that he has lost all faith in his own ability to uphold the law. Edmund offers Ryan his sincere apologizes for thinking the worst of him. A tearful Opal suffers mixed emotions upon learning that her marriage to Palmer has been officially dissolved. Mateo tries to explain to his son why his mother can't live with him but Max insists that he doesn't like Haley and wants only his mother. Realizing his original plan won't work, Mateo regretfully decides to give Raquel custody of Max so the boy can stay with her. Ryan and Jack work together on a plan to get Braden into a treatment program. Gillian confides to a sympathetic Haley how much she wishes she could be spending her first anniversary with her husband.

Liza remains determined to ensure that Adam will be her childs father in every important sense of the word. Following his violent encounter with his brother, Ryan thanks Gillian for taking care of him, then sets off to warn Tad and Dixie about Braden. David drops by to check on Erica and is concerned to find all the mirrors in her house smashed to bits. On the Santos' last morning at Wildwind, Edmund and Hayley finally make peace and Mateo thanks his brother-in-law for all the hospitality. Erica icily informs David she now remembers how the accident really happened. Jake brings Liza a peace offering and asks her if they can make a fresh start for the sake of their daughter. Realizing Erica still has a few crucial gaps in her memory, David tries to fill the holes with enough lies to save his own skin.

After assuring Liza that he will play an important part in her baby's life, Adam makes love to her. Adam then prepares to leave town on business. Liza remains amazed that Adam has so generously agreed to back down from his earlier demands about baby Colby. Though Joe and David are against it, Erica is finally released from the hospital but refuses to have anything to do with Dimitri or Myrtle. Settling in at home, Erica loses control and smashes all of the mirrors that show her scarred face. She is calmed down by a pleasant phone call from Bianca. She then begins to piece together events leading up to the car accident and remembers that it was David who wanted to get back to Pine valley in a hurry.

Vowing to utterly destroy the man who raped his sister, Jackson instructs Derek to put a 24 hour tail on Braden. When Derek cautions the district attorney to tread carefully and stay within the law, Jackson bitterly accuses him of obstructing a legitimate quest for justice. Ryan asks Tad for help locating his brother. Meanwhile, Dixie cowers in fear as Braden flies into a rage and hurls a lamp to the floor. Trembling, Dixie urges Braden to get professional help before he does something he'll regret. Mateo proudly shows Hayley around their new home. Worried about his missing fiancee, Tad enlists Ryan's assistance for a fast search of Pine Valley. Trevor finally manages to make Jackson understand how his thirst for revenge is destroying his career and driving away all of his friends.

Outraged by Braden's flippant and cruel remark about Kit, Jackson attacks him and has to be physically restrained by Tad and Trevor. Trevor warns Jack that he's not going to be able to make the charges against Braden stick. Astounded to hear Erica declare that his mother is the only real friend she has left, David warns his patient not to place any trust in Vanessa. Adam convinces Liza to sign a paper which declares Jake as her baby's father. Liza asks Barry to obtain a court order forbidding Jake to use the amnio fluid sample she gave to the hospital. Erica explains to David why her concern over her damaged face goes beyond mere vanity but gets to the very core of her identity. she blasts him for ruining her life and forcing her friends to lie to her to protect her.
