Gillian explains to her grandmother why she's decided to give Ryan the silent treatment until their divorce is final. Edmund admits to Brooke that he's lost his journalistic objectivity when it comes to Kit Fisher. During another quarrel with Tad, Kit bitterly reminds him that she deserves the same treatment that he does. Gillian returns to David's hotel room and begs him to make her forget that Ryan ever existed. The INS inspector tells Ryan that he and the princess are officially off the hook. As they drown their sorrows with handfuls of Halloween candy, Tad and Jake glumly exchange tales of woe about the abrupt end of their respective romances.

With her back against the wall, Allie stubbornly insists that David is lying about her to cause trouble but Jake continues to demand the truth about her pregnancy. Erica comes to the courthouse to again plead her case with Jackson, who once more rejects her offer of support as he faces off with Kit Fisher. As Liza enters the fray at the boarding house, Allie turns on her rival" with a fury, then repeats her assertion that she is in fact carrying Jake's child. Tad tells Adam he's afraid something may have happened to Dixie. After Kit explains to an irate Judge Leibowitz how she came up empty in her search for conclusive evidence, Edmund explains why Nathan Fisher has refused to testify in order to avoid a charge of kidnapping.

David realizes that Allie is still holding an important trump card in their ongoing game of cat and mouse. After spending a lonely night on the roof of the Statler building, Tad glumly assumes that Dixie has made her decision and chose not to commit to a future with him. Jake explains to Allie why he doesn't want to marry her until he's certain their love can last. Braden hits the ground running when he saves Cortlandt Electronics a cool two million dollars during his very first day on the job. Praying for the strength to reach Tad in time, Dixie again makes a feeble attempt to crawl for help. David searches the boarding house for the copy of his video confession. At WRCW, Adam flies into a rage when he overhears Allie snarling at Liza that she should miscarry Jake's child.

Gillian and Ryan stage another battle royale at Wildwind When Mateo demands to know if she has a boyfriend stashed somewhere Raquel begins to disclose Max's identity but Trevor's arrival angers her and she clams up again. Kit explains to her fuming father why she needs him to back up her story in order to force Jackson into a DNA test. Atop the Statler building Tad nervously waits for Dixie to appear so he can slip his grandmother's engagement ring on her finger. Meanwhile Dixie decides to lie down until her dizzy spell passes. Kit tells her father the money she's been sending him for years came from a series of scams she ran. When Mr. Fisher orders Kit to leave Edmund angrily steps in with a warning of his own.

Edmund accompanies Kit back to her father's house. Gillian gleefully lets Mateo know that she saw his wife breaking and entering at the Pine Cone motel. Atop the Statler building, Tad waits anxiously for the appointed hour. Meanwhile, Dixie tells Braden she's happy to hear that he's decided to move to Pine valley and become her uncle's new executive assistant. When she asks for his take on her personal dilemma, Braden advises Dixie to cut her losses and run before her heart gets broken once again. After Jake brings a special delivery to the Big Apple, Tad shows his brother the ring Kate gave him years ago and explains how he's been longing to present the heirloom to Dixie. Ryan scolds Gillian for meddling in the Santos' marriage once more.

Hayley breaks into Raquel's room at the Pine Cone motel and snoops through her rivals belongings. Meanwhile, at Wildwind, Mateo explains to Raquel why they must keep their distance from one another until their legal dispute is settled. Adam voices a vehement objection when David proposes that Liza join him for a special on-air segment about pregnancy and motherhood. With just twelve hours remaining until her self-imposed deadline, Dixie is torn by conflicting emotions as she ponders a future with Tad. Adam warns Liza not to set herself up as a target for tabloid exploitation and possible stalkers by going public with her story. Tad weighs his options and wonders if he's really ready to commit to one woman for the rest of his life.

At Wildwind, Ryan faces a dressing down from Mateo after he jumps to the wrong conclusion about the state of the Santos' marriage. Meanwhile, Gillian returns to David's bed after writing off her husband as a lost cause yet again. The Dillons spend the night camping outside to be close to Harold. In the morning, Trevor and Janet decide the time has come to bring their beloved pet's suffering to an end. Excited about the medical spots her lover is going to start taping for WRCW, Gillian urges David to find a place for her on his televised segment. Adam suggests to Liza that she could use his friendship now that she's on the perilous road to parenthood. Feigning concern for Gillian's safety, David persuades her to remain silent about their affair.

Stuart returns from his fishing trip and is delighted to find Marian emerging from a large gift box, dressed as a mermaid. Trevor and Janet fear that Harold's time may be at an end when the dog becomes too sick to respond to Amanda's call. Tad reminds Dixie that they need to consider the consequences if they fail at togetherness one more time. Mateo is irked to discover that Raquel still hasn't signed the no-fault divorce papers. Insisting that God has given them a second chance, Raquel urges Mateo to recall the sweet marriage vows they exchanged and to believe that those promises were meant to last forever. Tad explains to Dixie why he can't guarantee that he will never hurt her again. Marian fervently declares her love to Stuart.

Ryan finally declares his love to a thrilled Gillian Jackson orders Erica to stop meddling in his life, but she stubbornly persists and appeals for the chance to prove her love by ridding him of Kit Fisher. Edmund reminds Kit that they only have one week in which to come up with compelling evidence to force Jack into a DNA test. Dixie tells Tad she does forgive him, then asks if he can find it in his heart to do the same After he assures her he crossed that bridge a long time ago, Dixie thanks Tad for making her confront her feelings. When Jack refuses to even look at the dossier she's compiled on Kit, Erica begins to think she may have lost the battle for the man she loves. Deflated to think she's been fooled again, Gillian accuses Ryan of putting on a show for the inspector from the INS.

Ryan greets Gillian in the sauna of the gym wearing nothing but his birthday suit and a smile. Brooke is disappointed to see Erica and Dimitri in close conversation over lunch. Tad and Dixie share a lingering kiss. Afterwards, Tad suggest to his flustered ex that they clear the air once and for all about the chaotic way their marriage ended. Erica and Brooke icily exchange unsolicited pieces of advice about the various men in their lives. Jackson finally arrives for the court hearing and explains to the judge why Kit Fisher could not possibly be his sister Christine. Gillian begins to melt in response to Ryan's sweaty caress, but David's enterance into the sauna interrupts the Lavery's reconciliation.

Jackson angrily accuses Edmund of ruining his life just so he can get Kit Fisher in the sack. Meanwhile, Erica orders Kit to hop the next flight out of Pine Valley and never darken Jack's door again. Tad and Dixie soak up some of the local color in the Big Apple and enjoy spending the day together without dwelling on their messy marital history. When Kit refuses to cooperate, Erica displays the thick dossier she's compiled on the con woman and again demands that the bogus Christine cancel her court hearing and disappear before her past is smeared all over the newspapers. Edmund reminds Jackson that he's been given a rare chance to rewrite history and welcome back the sister he thought he'd never see again.

Palmer reads Dixie's letter to Tad, then gives the intended recipient of the note a somewhat skewered version of his niece's remarks. In New York, an irked Braden reminds Dixie that her uncle promised him a job at Cortlandt Electronics. Allie deliberately misses her prenatal appointment but assures Jake she'll reschedule with the OB/GYN as soon as possible. Trevor tries to tempt Harold with his favorite taste treat but the ailing dog still has no appetite. Braden explains to a sympathetic Dixie how he was so eager to learn everything at the foot of his idol that he quit his job the minute Palmer mentioned an opening in his firm. Tad questions his mother's common sense when he learns that Opal has allowed both Palmer and Adrian to stay on at Cortlandt Manor.

Mateo explains to Raquel why signing off on the no-fault divorce will save them both a lot of time and grief. Gillian tearfully clings to David, coaxing him to express his love for her. Stunned by Allie's announcement, Jake wonders how the morning-after pills could have failed to work. As they discuss their options, Allie claims she can not have an abortion and offers to leave Pine Valley in order not to burden Jake with the responsibility of an unwanted child. Ryan comes to Dimitri for advice on how to piece his crumbling marriage back together. Allie pretends to let Jake "convince" her to stay in town. David reminds Gillian that they must be very discreet because she still needs her husband's help to avoid deportation.

Gillian is caught off guard when Ryan announces that he wants them to finally have a real marriage. David taunts Allie about her ill-conceived plan to get Jake to impregnate her. At WRCW, Jake realizes that he's not cut out to be a television personality when the first taping of his health spot ends in disaster. Hayley overhears Raquel's end of a seemingly intimate conversation and icily interrogates the first Mrs. Santos about the man on the other end of the phone line. Later, Mateo convinces a reluctant Raquel to go discuss their legal problem with Trevor. Allie tells David she's already carrying Jake's child, but he quickly calls her bluff. After forcing her to admit that she lied, David promises Allie he'll keep mum.
