Though Ridge tries to get someone's attention outside of the stalled freight elevator car, Brooke decides to take advantage of the situation and starts to flirt with him, whispering a fantasy about being trapped on an elevator. Ridge asks her to stop talking and stay on her side of the car. Brooke follows his request and confides her wish that time could stand as still as the elevator so that they could enjoy each other. As she talks, she strolls to his side and starts kissing his neck. C.J. finds Amber at Spectra, trying on some new clothes with Darla. When she asks him where Rick is, C.J. states that he's with his science project partner, the new girl, Kimberly. When Amber guesses that she's not attractive, C.J. reveals that, on the contrary, Kimberly is very cute.

When Brooke talks about Pierce, Ridge warns her about getting too close to the shrink because he seems only to be interested in Taylor. Brooke's caught off guard by the fact that he's aware of Pierce's interest in his wife. She asks him if he's upset by this but Ridge claims not to be worried, at least not now since Taylor's leaving her job. Brooke doubts that Taylor would do such a thing and the two end up placing a bet on whether Taylor quits. Brooke then disappears and returns wearing some new lingerie. Ridge accuses her of flirting with him but she insists she simply wants to model the new designs Ridge decides to call her bluff and pulls her out to the elevator. In the car, the two get playful with the buttons until the elevator jams.

Taylor pleases Ridge when she reveals that Pierce has decided to cancel the project at work. He can't understand why she wants to remain with Pierce now that the project is over. She asks him if he asked Brooke to talk with Pierce about canceling it but he denies it and suggests they go away for a few days to celebrate. Taylor explains that she's got to clear things up with Pierce first. At the office Pierce stuns his employees with the news that he's ended the secret project but adds that he wants to go back on the lecture circuit. Brooke arrives and congratulates him on doing the right thing where Taylor is concerned. However, she also states that it must be obvious to him now that Taylor does have feelings for him.

Stephanie talks with Brooke about her chat with Amber and admits that she has been trying to convince the pregnant teen to give the baby up for adoption. C.J. and Rick talk at the Insomnia. When Kimberly enters the coffee house Rick points her out to C.J. who is impressed. However when they talk with Kimberly, C.J. feels left out and leaves without saying goodbye. Kimberly mentions to Rick that they are going to be partners in a science project. When she leaves she unknowingly passes Amber who rushes to Rick and gives him a big kiss.

After her banker explains that she's run out of time, Sally confides to C.J. and Darla that she has done everything to keep the company afloat but has come up short. As they bemoan their fate, a messenger stops by with an envelope. Opening it, Darla shows Sally a check for $500,000 from an anonymous donor. The banker confirms the check seems valid and reveals that it will pay off the loan, keeping them in business. Sally asks Thorne if he's responsible but he denies it. Amber stops by a jewelers and picks out a pair of Celtic wedding bands for herself and Rick. Meanwhile, Rick stops by the Fairchild's new home and hands Kimberly the purse she left at his house. She thanks him and he offers to meet her at school tomorrow and help show her around.

When Amber happily plops onto the couch with a container of ice cream, Stephanie suggests that she hasn't been acting very responsibly lately. Amber ignores the warning and reminds her that she and Rick will soon be married. When Stephanie talks about adoption and claims that Rick is only interested in marrying her because of the baby, Amber insists that Rick loves her. At Brooke's Miles talks with everyone about what life in Nantucket was like for him and his daughter Kimberly. Rick finds himself becoming more and more interested in the teen as she mentions the numerous sailing trips she took with her father. However, when it's time for Kimberly and her father to leave, Rick is on the phone with Amber. When Kimberly leaves her purse behind, Rick quickly offers to run it over to her.

While Brooke and Eric entertain Myles and his daughter Kimberly, Rick enjoys spending time with the new friend. Myles reveals to Eric that Kimberly's mother died years ago. At the Insomnia Amber notes an interracial couple placing their baby in a stroller and wonders to herself what life will be like if Raymond is the father of her unborn baby. C.J. notices who she is looking at and asks if she's thinking of her own situation. Amber snaps out of it and quickly changes the subject to her wedding, asking him if he knows where she and Rick should tie the knot. She then decides to step up to the stage and sing a song. Taylor admits her feeling that she might be becoming involved with Pierce but he stops her by ringing the crystal bell. He then tells her that all the feelings that came out about him will disappear once she awakens.

While Taylor calls James to meet him later, Pierce stands in disbelief at hearing Brooke's news that Bailey hypnotized Taylor to have feelings for him. As Brooke leaves, Bailey arrives and realizes that Brooke has spilled the beans. Pierce angrily demands that Bailey give him the crystal bell that he used as a hypnotic triggering device for Taylor. After Bailey hands him the bell, Pierce angrily kicks him out of the office. Pierce then returns to his office and stuns Taylor with his decision to cancel the new hypnosis project, calling it too dangerous to use. Taylor demands to know why he's stopping their exciting project. While Stephanie keeps Amber busy in the kitchen, Thorne tells Rick that he thinks he's making a big mistake in deciding to marry Amber.

Brooke confronts Pierce outside his office and stuns him with the shocking revelation that Bailey hypnotized Taylor to have feelings for him. Pierce is rocked by the news and realizes the consequences of his assistant's actions. Brooke asks Pierce what he intends to do about it just as Taylor interrupts. Ridge caches Bailey just as he's leaving Brooke's office and stops him, demanding to know what is going on at the office to upset Taylor Bailey tries to sneak past him but Ridge roughly throws him up against the door and demands some answers. Ridge claims to know that Pierce wants Taylor but insists that he will never have her because Taylor is his wife and loves only him. Thorne asks Stephanie about Amber and states his feeling that Rick is making a big mistake in thinking that marrying Amber will solve all of his problems.

Pierce opens up to Taylor about his secret feelings for her. While she admits that she is aware of his feelings, she claims that she cannot act on them. Taylor finally confesses that she also cares for him. Ridge confides in James about the troubles he and Taylor have been having and he thinks it stems from Taylor's job. He describes for the shrink how much Bailey protects Pierce. James suggests that Bailey is involved in whatever is troubling Taylor. Ridge agrees and the two wonder if Bailey might be using drugs to control or affect Taylor. In Brooke's office, Bailey boasts to Brooke that Ridge's marriage is about to end. He claims that Taylor is in Pierce's office right now and may end her marriage today.

Ridge finds it difficult to concentrate on work and complains to Brooke about his frustration. She tries to reassure him that everything will be okay but he insists that he thinks Taylor's troubles stem from working with Pierce. He then decides to do something about it and leaves. Taylor continues to fight her attraction to Pierce who comments on her nervousness. He announces that they should talk about the feelings they have but Taylor reminds him that they need to maintain a professional relationship. When he tries to get her to admit her feelings, she reminds him that she's married. But as they talk, the two move closer. Bailey surprises Brooke in her office and suggests that she might want to invite Ridge to dinner since he thinks that Ridge will be available soon.

Ridge worries when he notices how upset his wife is. Taylor confides that she doesn't know what's been bothering her lately but she does admit she's concerned her troubles are affecting their marriage. Ridge claims that their marriage is strong but Taylor wonders aloud if she is looking for a simpler relationship. Ridge states that he is willing to work to make their marriage work, no matter what it takes. Bailey catches Pierce smiling and is encouraged when Pierce reveals that he and Taylor had a connection earlier that could mean great things for the two of them. When Bailey asks what he plans to do about it, Pierce suggests that his own advice would be to talk with Taylor about those feelings.

Brooke questions Ridge about Taylor's work and quietly asks if Taylor might be facing trouble from her boss Pierce. Ridge insists that he's not afraid of Pierce but he does reveal that Bailey has made it clear to him that he wants Pierce to be with Taylor. Brooke mentions that Bailey came to her house the other day and hinted that Pierce does have someone in his life. An anxious Bailey waits outside Pierce's office for some sign that his post-hypnotic suggestion has worked. James interrupts and asks to see Taylor but is told that she's unavailable. Inside the office, Taylor finds herself drawn to Pierce but she doesn't know why. she tries to stop thinking about those feelings and stop staring at him but finds that she can't.

Thorne stops by Brooke's place to give her the news about Grant's death. She admits that she heard. When he asks how her dinner with Pierce at Ridge and Taylor's went, she mentions that she noticed Pierce's attraction to Taylor. Brooke also adds that Pierce's assistant Bailey stopped by her place later and confided that Pierce has a "thing" for Taylor which could mean that Ridge might become available again. Thorne warns her about chasing after Ridge again. In front of Stephanie, Ridge approaches James about his concern for Taylor's new job and mentions that she's using hypnosis in Pierce's new project. He claims that he's noticed a difference in Taylor ever since she took this job. James asks Ridge if he's jealous. Bailey warns Pierce that Ridge stopped by earlier and acted as if he's afraid of Pierce.
