Confronting Reid in the hospital corridor, Jack demands to know why he took Julia to a motel for the night. Reid refuses to say anything other than he was treating her. Julia interrupts and finally admits that she needed Reid to get her off the pills she's been popping. After Jack apologizes, Reid runs to his office and frantically tries to reach his associate holding Emily. Meanwhile, at the station house, Tom refuses to act as Emily's lawyer. She finally agrees to tell all she knows and admits that she was held captive for months by a man she never saw but thought was David. Hal decides that she should be examined by a psychiatrist. Ed calls Reid who is shocked to hear that she has escaped.

As Molly listens with disgust, Carly calls her private eye Mr. Lane who reports back that Julia spent the night in a motel room with Reid. when Julia comes to and reports that she heard a baby crying last night, Reid quickly advises her that she must have remembered being held captive with Lily's baby. To stop her incessant arguing, Reid spews some psychobabble which she quickly swallows. She also agrees not to call or meet Jack for the time being. Emma starts making plans of her own when Jack reveals that he and Julia have set a June wedding date. Thanks to Reid, Jack finds out that Julia lied about being at work and was actually at a motel. After boasting to the shrink that she has moved back in with Andy, Molly surprises Reid by revealing that she knows about his night with Julia.

An angry Chris walks in on Bob consoling Susan about Emily's disappearance. Chris then accuses Bob of cheating on Kim and tells him that he's not the perfect man after all. Emily stands by her story that she was kidnapped and shot her captor in self-defence. Lisa tries to stop John from spotting Barbara and Hal having a cozy dinner. John and Lisa apologize to each other about the custody hearing. Margo tells Susan that Emily has to be taken down to Police head quarters for questioning in what may be a possible murder. At the motel David tries to find out if Julia recognizes him until the sitter shows up with the crying baby.

When Julia claims that she's "seeing" David again and wants to be permanently cured, Reid announces that he will take her to a motel for 24 hours and help rid her of the drugs that are still in her system. After Susan reports that Emily has taken $100, 000 out of her bank account, Tom calls Margo to cancel their session today with the marriage counselor so that he can help find Emily. Meanwhile, Emily gets the upperhand on her gun-toting captor and tries to knock him out before grabbing his gun. She then turns on him and shoots. Emily runs to Tom's place and spins her wild tale, frightening him when she pulls out the gun she used. Tom calls the police and then takes her back to the warehouse where they find her dead captor.

Jack takes Julia to a warehouse once owned by burglars where he sets up a few items to help imagine that they are in Venice. There, they share a passionate kiss, some happy talk and choose June 25 as their wedding date. Outside, Emily's captor decides it's time to kill her after ignoring Reid's orders to discount Emily's money offer to free her. He sets her free but then starts shooting. Julia thinks she sees David through the window and backs out of her date with Jack to run to Reid. Margo announces to Andy that she and Tom are going to see a marriage counselor. She hints that he should enjoy his days of being single because marriage isn't all it's cracked up to be. When Reid finds her upset and about to drown her sorrows in a bowl of ice cream, he presses Molly about her friendship with Andy and suggests that she has no closure on her relationship with David.

When Reid surprises James at the cabin, he claims that he is there to help him escape from the police. Upset with what he has said about his wife, James locks Reid in the closet which forces him to relive his being buried alive. He screams for James to let him out and eventually calls him "dad." Released, Reid reveals he is David and explains what happened the night he was shot by Holden. Lily is thrilled when she interrupts Hal's browbeating of her mother and hears Lucinda start talking. Hal explains that he has James' confession on tape but Lucinda insists that he's not responsible for the accident which sent her to the hospital and confessed just to help her recover.

Molly's embarrassed when she mistakes Reid for Andy in the shower. When Andy returns home and finds them together, Molly tries to patch up their relationship after Carly's custody win. As they talk, their argument turns passionate. Hal can't believe it when James calls to confess to setting Lucinda up for the "accident" in the stables. After James confesses over the phone in front of Lucinda, he tells the mute woman that he doesn't care what happens to him if he can't be with her. As he leaves the room, Lucinda cries out "no." Bob examines her and reports that he's surprised by the change since they've taken her off the medication but her outburst shows she should recover. Lucinda urges James to run from the police.

James manages to stop Holden from confessing to killing David by claiming to have heard from his son. Julia takes Reid to the grave site where they both find it uncomfortable. Reid suddenly suffers an asthma attack but covers it from Julia and orders her to go into details about the night David died. They're surprised when James suddenly appears. James decides to push Lucinda's recovery by confessing to her accident. Camille confronts Ben about his friendship with Denise. Meanwhile, Denise decides that it would be best for the both of them if she moved out of Ben's place. Turning down Brad's marriage proposal, Carly manages to let Jack know that Brad did pop the question.

Camille is taken aback when Ben explains that while he will always love her, their relationship is over. Thanks to M.J.'s testimony that John told him to lie on the stand, the judge awards custody of Parker to Carly. While Carly celebrates with Molly, Andy tries to comfort his despondent father. Brad pays Camille a visit and is relieved to hear that her rendezvous with Ben fell flat. He tries to get close to her but she isn't interested, a fact which sends him out to drown his sorrows. Carly finds him and tries to thank him for his help and support. He surprises her by asking her to marry him.

John decides to keep secret M.J.'s confession that he dropped Parker, not Carly. Meanwhile, after Carly claims she would chose her son over the money from the trust fund, Molly decides that it's time John know the truth about Parker's paternity. After Carly testifies, Brad manages to befriend M.J. M.J. takes the stand and confesses his lie on the stand earlier and reveals that John knew the truth. When Sarah leaks that Camille is trying to reconcile with Ben, Brad decides to leave the courtroom but Carly convinces him to stay with her. Camille surprises Ben at the high school gym where she expresses her desire for him. While things begin to heat up, Ben suddenly pulls back. Eddie argues with Denise about relationship problems.

Carly's attorney Greg Lauritz warns Carly that John and his attorney will get the first chance to attack her. Seeing Rosanna enter the courtroom, Carly accuses her of being there for John. When Rosanna confirms it and boasts that she thinks Carly isn't fit to raise a curtain let alone a child, Carly tries to strangle her. Brad and Hal pull them apart. out in the corridor, Molly warns John that he could lose Parker forever if he goes ahead with the custody hearing. John isn't interested in her threats. As the trial begins, Carly's upset when all of her lies are revealed. After he testifies otherwise, M.J. stuns John when the boy admits that he was responsible for Parker falling, not Carly. Ben's impressed when he sneaks up on Denise as she practices some ballet steps on the stage at the Oasis.

Jack and Julia continue to argue about her need for the tranquilizers. Julia defends her pill-popping but downplays the need for them. Jack regretfully informs Julia that he has to pull a late night session with the D.A. After Jack departs, Julia is tempted to grab for her pills but elects to call for help from Reid. Reid instructs a shaking Julia to go outside and throw all her pills as far into the darkness as she can. He reminds Julia that she must turn over her entire life to him if she hopes to get healthy. Running into each other, Georgia and Katie discuss Eddie who stops by her place. When she accuses him of not knowing what he wants, Eddie insists he wants only her but she slams the door in his face.

Eddie gives Denise the good news that his boss has okayed hiring her at the Oasis. when Denise sheepishly admits that she's been feeling some chest pains and is getting a mammogram, Camille encourages her that she's doing the right thing. Kim gives Chris $2,000 in travelers' checks to pay back his friend. He thanks her for not telling Bob though she pushes him to tell him the truth. In front of Carly, Jack confronts Julia about the pills in her hand. she denies that she's addicted to them but then lets slip that Carly knew about her pill-popping. She refuses to leave with him, admitting that she's got an appointment she can't cancel. When James admits that he heard Holden state that he killed David, Holden comes clean about how and why he accidentally shot David.

Lucinda struggles to tell her family about James setting up the "accident" in the stables. Jack offers his help and tries to question her. He manages to get her to answer "yes" or "no" by blinking her eyes but James demands that he leave his wife alone. Reid overhears James tell Holden that he knows that he killed David. John stops Carly from blaming M.J. for Parker's accident. Parker is examined at the hospital after the fall and is found to be healthy. Carly's relieved but worries that this could jeopardize her chances for custody of the baby. Meanwhile, Jessica warns John that he doesn't have a case for custody. A frantic Julia pleads with Reid for another refill but he refuses unless she starts therapy with him.

Margo overhears Tom admit to Susan that he hired private detectives to try to find Emily. When she states her feeling that Emily is sill faking to draw Tom's sympathy, Susan blasts her for being unsympathetic to a mother who is worried about her missing daughter. James continues to boast to a comatose Lucinda that he's rich now after she fell into his trap and can now enjoy life once he has her judged mentally incompetent. He's interrupted by Reid who offers his professional help and boasts that he has had great success with his new technique. Lily enters and offers her own concern for her mother. When Reid asks for the story behind Lucinda's illness, Lily and James eventually talk about David with Lily admitting she's glad he's dead.
