Due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no summary of "Another World" on Monday, May 31. Paulina urges her lawyer to let her take the stand in her own defense but Cass refuses to endanger their already fragile case any further. Meanwhile, as the pieces of the puzzle begin to fall together, Joe realizes Tito could not be the child Paulina gave away when she was sixteen. Pulling Cass aside, Joe explains why he's so certain his wife did not kill Grant, then asks the attorney to stall the trial for at least 24 hours. Quietly instructing his baffled client to draw out her answers as much as possible, Cass calls Paulina to the stand and begins his delaying tactics.

Waking from a nightmare about David Halliday, Amanda vows to get the man out of her life for good. Nick reports to an astonished Joe how he overheard Tito black-mailing Walker by threatening to expose the judge's history of selling black-market babies. Later, Tito plays on Remy's sympathy when she finds him outside the judge's chambers yet again. As Joe takes the witness stand, Cass quietly cautions his client's volatile husband to keep hold of his temper. At the hospital, a fuming Amanda informs David that his amnesia act won't save him from paying dearly for his crimes. During June's cross-examination, Joe forgets Cass warning and hurls insults at the judge.

Tito is unnerved to learn that Nick has finally made contact with the man who made Remy's locket. As she heads into the second day of her trial, Paulina frets about the damage Cindy and Rachel's testimony will inevitably do to her case. Unwilling to leave Paulina in her time of need, Remy asks Nick to understand why she can't go to speak to the jeweler just yet. Meanwhile, posing as Nick; Tito meets the silversmith at the Lucky Lady and convinces the aging hippie to keep trucking. Felicia decides to drum up public interest in bone marrow donations in hopes of finding a match for Sergei. On the witness stand, Cindy relates how she clearly heard the defendant threatening to kill Grant just a few short hours before the mayor died.

As the inferno rages around them, Rachel desperately attempts to lead her granddaughter to safety. In the secret garden, Cameron and Amanda explain to an incredulous Matt how Jordan seemed to evaporate into thin air and was replaced by a body covered with slime. Anne jumps to the obvious conclusion upon learning from the motel owner how Lila and Matt spent the night in the same cabin. Relieved to find Rachel and Ally safe and sound, Amanda relates her own curious experience with Stark and his alter ego. Meanwhile, in the ER, the man from the garden is resuscitated and regains consciousness. Anne wastes no time passing along a juicy tidbit of gossip to Cass, who furiously confronts Lila with her lie.

After Joe tips him off to the tact that Walker actively campaigned to oversee Paulina's case, Cass moves that the judge remove himself or have the proceedings declared a mistrial. Cameron and Rachel question Ms. Allen, who nervously insists that they must all vacate the building at once. Meanwhile, Jordan lures Amanda back into the secret garden, where his talk of love and death frightens her badly. Nick reports progress to Remy in his search for the man who made her locket. Cass accuses Walker of being blatantly biased against his client but the judge presses on with the trial. Rachel finds a sketch of Amalie and realizes that Jordan believes her daughter is housing the spirit of his late wife.

Disobeying her mother's explicit instructions to stay away from Halliday, Ally eagerly offers to help "David" win over Amanda by luring her to the garden gate. Meanwhile, Rachel tells her astounded daughter that Jordan Stark and David Halliday are one and the same. Jake goes to the courthouse to lend Vicky his moral support after learning that she's been subpoenaed to testify against her best friend. Ignoring Miss Allen's protests, Jordan begins shredding all his files and informs his anguished assistant that the Lumina building and everything within will vanish in thirty minutes. On the witness stand, Vicky reluctantly confirms Swanson's assertion that Grant was in no condition to harm anyone after she hit him with the angel statue.

Though Amanda assures her mother that David is simply clumsy and didn't smash her sculpture on purpose, Rachel remains suspicious of the fact that she still hasn't met the elusive Mr. Halliday. Meanwhile, Jordan explains to Miss Allen how close he came to being unmasked. Lila awakens to find herself snuggled up next to Matt in the motel cabin's one bed. Rachel asks Cameron to bring her a photograph of Halliday. Ally encourages her mother to get closer to David and leave Cameron in the dust. When Cass suddenly appears at the door of the cabin, Lila greets him wearing nothing but a sheet while frantically signaling Matt to stay hidden in the bathroom.

Following a cursory examination in the emergency room, the doctor tells Paulina he thinks she's probably suffered a panic attack. Meanwhile, Tito threatens to expose walker's dirtiest secrets unless the judge takes him off the witness list and helps him get out of town with a hefty bankroll to use as traveling money. After instructing Sergei to hide, Felicia turns on the crocodile tears and tells the INS agents that her young Russian friend has passed away. Nick begins tracing the locket Remy received from her mother at birth. While visiting Paulina at the hospital, Tito faces tough questions from Cass and Joe about all the money he accepted from his too-trusting mother.

Marley tells Tyrone she tears she's inadvertently caused the break-up of her sister's marriage. Meanwhile, Jake awakens in his motel room to find a scantily-clad Vicky smothering him with kisses. Tito winces to hear Remy describing for Nick her recurring dream in which she finally tracks down her mother and it turns out to be Paulina. An irked Cass tells Paulina her son never attended a single class at the college while she was supposedly paying for his education. More certain than ever that "Tim" is a bum, Joe reminds his tearful wife that he can't watch her throw away her freedom for a boy who doesn't deserve her love. As Tito continues to eavesdrop, Remy admits to Nick how jealous she is that her friend found the perfect mom.

Though Remy is thrilled to see her friend returning home with Joe, Paulina tearfully explains that she's only been allowed a few hours of freedom in which to say goodbye to Dante and put her affairs in order. "David" fills Amanda's entire bedroom with fresh-cut flowers, then coaxes her outside for a midnight stroll through the garden. Awakening from a nightmare about her daughter being in jeopardy, Rachel hears what she believes is a prowler and whacks Cameron over the head with a fireplace poker. After Rachel apologizes profusely for her mistake, Cameron reveals that he came over because he couldn~t shake a feeling of dread about Amanda's safety.

As Toni regretfully places Paulina under arrest for Grant's murder, Joe rants about the injustice of it all and tries to prevent the police from removing his wife from the house. Meanwhile, Remy cries on Nick's shoulder as she watches Paulina being taken into custody. Felicia realizes that Sergei didn't go to the hospital to visit a sick friend but to seek treatment for himself. Weeping, Remy admits to Paulina that she was the one who phoned in the anonymous tip. Although shocked by his girldfriend's confession, Nick tries to reassure Remy that she did the right thing. At the station house, Joe is taken aback to learn that his wife will be charged with murder in the first degree.

As Gary prepares to start a new chapter in his life, Josie is dismayed to spot her husband chatting cozily with an attractive blonde at Carlino 5. Anne again watches the video of Frankie and Cass cuddling their newborn daughter. Alarmed to find the clock tower ablaze, Matt rushes in and pulls his mother to safety. Cass promises a relieved Lila he'll let Anne go. Josie cries on Cameron's shoulder about Gary turning to another woman. Rachel and Matt return to Lumina to confront Jordan, who feigns bewilderment at being accused of arson and attempted murder. Cass offers his assistant a generous severance check and thanks her for all the good work she's done.

As Chris runs a front page story on Rachel's disappearance, Cameron reports to the Cory clan that Jordan Stark checked himself out of the clinic just before the police arrived. Meanwhile, in the clock tower, Rachel has a disturbing dream about Amanda meeting her end at Stark's hands. Though Joe orders his wife to shut up, Toni continues to press Paulina for answers. Certain one of the Carlino's was responsible for Grant's death, Toni advises her fuming friends to seek the advice of counsel before she forces them to speak on the record. Later, when Toni discovers the satchel full of cash, Joe is genuinely surprised but Paulina explains how she withdrew the money from her trust fund for "Tim".
