Relax In The Laid-Back Outdoor
Setting Of Charlie's Bayside

It takes only a quick glance to see why Charlie's Bayside is one of the most charming restaurants in Fenwick Island.

With an outdoor deck that is more than double the size of its indoor dining area and a location along one of the many canals leading from Little Assawoman Bay, Charlie's offers the perfect setting to unwind with an evening meal or cocktail.

"It's a very casual atmosphere. People love to sit outside," owner Charlie Getz said.

Getz purchased the restaurant, located in the Village of Fenwick, in 1993 from previous owners Marvin and Marilyn Levinson and their daughter Shelly Roberts.

He had worked nine years as a cook, bartender and manager at the restaurant and jumped at the chance to run the business himself.

"It's what I went to school for," Getz said. "It was perfect timing."

Getz soon set about giving the restaurant previously known as the Feed Bag a tropical look and a new selection of entrees.

"I pretty much changed the entire menu," he said.

Charlie's offers a wide variety of seafood, chicken, beef, pork and pasta dishes. Favorites include coconut shrimp, broiled orange roughy stuffed with crab imperial, broiled scallops Hawaiian, grilled and blackened tuna, Polynesian chicken and gouda pork.

Stuffed portabella mushrooms have also been a hit along with Jamaican entrees like jerk chicken and pork.

Charlie's also has pasta, sandwich and children's menus along with a full-service bar.

"We've got a little bit of everything," Getz said. "It's been going over pretty good."

Other specials include lobster and king crab legs.

Getz noted entrees with Jamaican jerk spices have been especially popular since being added to the menu this summer. It was an idea he got during one of his frequent vacations to Jamaica.

"That's some of our biggest selling stuff," he said.
