Fished both Thurs. and Friday at 3rs until about 2pm both days. Weather was fantastic. Thursday - Ocean was placid. Wind was minimal. Fishing mullet rigs and cut bait on the bottom pulled in 25+ blues up to 16inches. Caught 4 throwback flounder up to 17in and several skates. Funny story. Was on the phone with my wife when I saw my rod bend and touch the sand. Mid sentence I thought I hung up, ran full speed towards my rod only to see the sandspike break and my rod head towards the water. I grabbed my rod and struggled for sometime to bring in a 4-5ft. smooth dogshark to shore. Apparently, I never hung up the phone and my wife heard me as I pulled the beast in. It was a blast! Bite died after high tide. Friday - wind was heavy and sea was choppier than Thursday but still not too bad. Bite was minimal though as 3rs began to get packed. Moved up to conquest around noon and ended up pulling 4 15"+ blues within 5 minutes of arriving. Added 10 more by the time we left around 2pm. All around a great two days. I hope the tournament went well for everyone. Will be back down in November for the striper run. |

"Seeing your rod head for the water gets your attention...quick." Thought I was was going to jump in for it! Next time I want a striper or flattie on the other end. |
