Everyone has been hitting the "usual" spots and doing poorly. I decided to check a few places not normally known for mullet hunting and ended up with 6-8 dozen in less than an hour right out front in Rehoboth. Not alot, but more than most have been finding lately with all this wind. Hope to find 'em tomorrow somewhere. |

They started out small over 5 weeks ago at CHSP but the small ones left and the normal Fingers showed . The winds have them scattered and I'm not sure they will be worth targeting again this year or not . Could have got all you wanted 1 to 3 weeks ago . I have also seen some of the largest Cobbs ever this year with some in the 18 to 20 inch class . Heck they were Grillin them at the Pier .. Ewww !!! |

They traditionally disappear every year after the first week of October . I remember fishing the Point and the mullet getting scarce after the first week . The Fall classic used to be later in the month ! |

Tom, the shops have some regular ones and the bait catchers have been getting those little one now. I was on Lewes Beach last night and had a net full of those ones that gill themselves. I really have not seen any in the surf yet. Rick |

I saw huge schools in the surf today near the towers. They were just out of reach of a throw net, but the bluefish were tearing them up. We had alot of small blues caught in the surf today as well. |

The little ones are a pain in the arse! They are way too small to use on a mullet rig and while you are trying to get them untangled out of your net, the big ones swim by! LOL I did manage 4-5 dozen nice ones yesterday and then a guy said, just over the rocks they are cruising the beach. I crossed over the jetty and there were alot of schools but they were the small ones. By the time I crawled back over the rocks, the larger ones had moved too far out. Today after leaving the beach, I decided to stop to try for some more and these people show up dragging a seine! Right in front of me almost. The guy said any mullet we get, you can have. I really didn't know what to say, without cussing. They were saying they were collecting stuff for their salt water aquarium. Well, I didn't know it was legal to keep a 2-3" flounder for your aquarium! They were barefooted so maybe, just maybe they'll get a good case of clam diggers itch! I said I would never wish this on anyone but............LOL |

The mullet are still around. I picked up plenty at the point on Tuesday, but they are in the calmer waters on the bay side. They are also on Lewes Beach, but hard to find when the wind in onshore. In years past I have been surprised at how late I find mullet in the warmer water in the pools near the point. Two years ago I round mullet in mid November. |
