Hope to see many old friends and make a few more. Any tips or suggestions for a guy who hasn't been to the beaches for awhile such as rigs, what's hitting, and where. Remember the whole chicken for bait thing? Well, now it's hot dogs! Fresh bait...no way....let them dogs sit in the sun for a bit. Sharp hooks? No more....the fish seem to like it when you actually file the points down....don't ask me. All them floats in your box...throw them out! We started using beer cans for floats...of all things. It seems that they only like fresh cans though...so you gotta start pounding beers at like 6am....and plenty of them....the blues demolish them. Well, that's all I got....hope it helps you in the upcoming tourney! The tourneys usually start at 7am...but the last couple of years have shown that it's not even worth wetting a line till at least 1 or 2pm. Therefore....I wouldn't even pull onto the beach until then....them guys that started at 7 will be pissed and leaving by then....that gives you plenty of spots to choose from. Relax....spend the morning getting a nice breakfast...maybe a little shopping....the "real" fishing doesn't happen till later. Just trying to help out.
