Hit the surf about 9am. First time ever driving a vehicle on the beach. Started throwing t/b spot rigs with purdue peeler soaked in shedder oil and picked up 10 fish. 7 blues up to 16 inches, 2 kings and 1 throwback flounder. The fakeme out fisherman are a joke. It's a shame the park rangers don't patrol the beach well enough. I got caught in someone's line several times that was just thrown in the water. Two cars to my right was another fake poke in the water with just a weight on bouncing in the surf. One lady threw her rod out in the water with two twister tails on her top bottom rig.

I've been fishen for 100 years and just don't get the chicken thing. You buy some chicken and soak it in oil and then put a little piece on the hook? Is that right?

Jim, i feel your pain but imo it is time for DMS to rethink their stategy and do something to embrace these people before we do become the "minority". fished both today and yesterday and saw over 200 hundred trucks at the two locations i fished both days. maybe 10-20 were actually surf fishing, the rest just had their lines hanging and made it look good. i was the last truck off south bethany last nite and got hassled by the ranger about some vehicles parked where they should not be. where were they all day??? any how del is the only state in a 4 stae area that "requires" you to be "actively fishing" while on the beach. md at AI, Va at AI and NC on the obx does not require you to be actively fishing while on the beach. at those places everyone just has learned how to get along. imo we need to do the same thing in del as we are the minority and sooner or later parks and rec is going to limit us to where we can be so the rest can do what they want. now is the time for us to emarace these people and learn how to get along. just my opinion but i would rather have them on my side that be the minority and let someone else tell me that i can only fish in this area and this area only.

Just something I think. If it would not be for the "activly fishing" nobody would be driving on the beach. I think the same people in OBX would like to not have us on the beach in DE. The other states except OBX have a limit to the number of trucks on the beac at one time so they are not the same as De. I do not want that either. As I said before I do not know the answer. More park rangers to police the beach. Costs would be high and not sure if it will work. I think more tickets need to be written and maybe the cost will keep some away. I said before about education as the key. I have been to most of the DMS meeting this year and I do not remember the topic coming up at a meeting. Many years ago I know they were notified about helping with the Safety Checks and no one showed. I was told by one of the BOD that they did not want to help with them. I support the DMS but I also have been watching this "activly fishing" thing get out of hand. We are between a rock and a hard place and not sure what to do.

Doing away with the actively fishing part would eliminate the line tangles for those of us who really fish.My only fear is that then think they have the right to swim and skim board overrules our right to fish-I can see the complaints about hooks etc.becoming a cry of danger to protect the kids from being hurt.Always use the kid angle when you want to get the public or politicians ear.

What is the percentage of beach "set aside" for fishing opposed that set aside for swimming along the DE coast?

the thing that seems to be overlooked is saftey. these people pay to drive on so they can get away from crowds. that is now a laugh. the state has provided swimming only beaches that are for the protection of swimmers. these people choose to disregard this. they are playing with their childrens lives doing this.they have been lucky so far that there has not been a tradgety, and i hope they never do. but when they party and don't watch them, the under current is always there. god forbid, but it's not apretty thought. the state is a little to lax in this point of view, and the reason, in my opinion, is money.
