Does anyone have a source for plans for the Hudson River Schuyler line AMERICA side paddle wheel tugboat? Any information on such would be a[ppreciated. This is the boat painted by the Bard brothers.

Neil:

Greetings.

Read your message relative to AMERICA. No, these plans are not available to the general public. 19th century steamboat plans, especially the walking beam types are hard to come by. As a modelmaker I, who specialize in steamboat models, had to research the Hudson River steamboat and draft plans based on the Bard brothers and photo references, in kind. Visit my website www.rexstewartoriginal.com as it will give you some valid insight relative to my steamboats. To this end I built three Hudson River sidewheeler tugboats, one of them being the AMERICA C.1853. The other two were the AUSTIN and SYRACUSE. I'm looking to build my fourth sometime in the near future.
