I'm trying to find some information and plans for one of the following for a scratch build. I've done a lot of Web work and would like to see if anyone has new leads. The original Wasp, which originally was the merchant schooner Scorpion, commissioned in late 1776 or Jan 1777. There are plans available for the Wasp but they are not for the first one. OR The Providence, originally the sloop Katy. same vintage. I'm trying to contact the Providence Maritime Heritage Foundation, but am finding a lot of bad links, to it. Providence RI has the replica. OR General Gates, former British merchant brigantine Industrious Bee. The Providence and Wasp provided covering fire for the Marine's first amphibious landings at the Battle of Nassau. The General Gates was named after a Marine General and handed Nelson one of his few defeats. Thanks Ed |
