I saw the model of the buy boat you built and wondered if you had it in you to make another. If you did how much would you want to do it? Lee Schwarz |

This was going to be a gift for a friend. I truly wish I had a friend that I wouldn't hesitate to blow 8500.00 on. I've got to pass. I am sure it is wotht it. Thanks for your response. |

Anyone have any info on the real ship the Dashaway? Or photos of any kind about her? My ancestor built the original at his shipyard in Maine. I know of a few ships he built, besides the Dashaway, he built the Sea King, and the Cynosure. His shipyard was in Bowdoinham, ME. Thanks! |

To Msgoodygal: My relative James Small was the Captain of the Dashaway, and leaving Jacmel, Haiti, in August, 1879, a day or two out at sea in a storm he was washed overboard. The ship had a load of wood on it or logs, and the crew had been hit by yellow fever that was ravaging the Panama canal construction, they must have picked it up in Jacmel or prior. We have an article about his loss from Sept that appeared in the New York Times, Bill Is this the ship you mean? |
