I don’t know if y’all noticed, but I basically stopped the bantering on any of the posts that recently got ugly. I’m about to go off on one of my diatribes, so if you get bored reading my stuff, feel free to move on. Every now and then, we self-correct the CL focus and usually takes a moment like this. I’m going to start with a personality profile of four forum characters, beginning with the one I know most. Note that I say forum characters, because in real life, these characters may be completely different: Charlietuna One of the original posters. A real friggin’ know-it-all who makes a comment about everything. Most of the time, supports his stuff with evidentiary material when it’s relevant. Offers some good information, some not good information. Has a hand in a lot of stuff, and thinks his word is gospel. Does, however, spend a lot of time apparently in various fishing interests like DNREC advisory councils, DMS, RFA, or otherwise. Sometime lashes out at people, less now than in the past, but still does it. Likes to rip on people’s ideas, sometimes to try to be funny. Regularly fishes and socializes with people on the CL forum. PierReview When he first appeared on the forum, he gave outstanding, incisive reports about fishing the CHSP pier. In recent times, was critical of surf fishing interest exceptions to threatened shorebird species protection programs. Has a strong sense of environmental conservation, and is witty and clearly intelligent. Likes to solicit lively debate with philosophical positions to other’s contrary. Does not spend time in fishing interest programs like DNREC advisory councils, RFA, or otherwise. Will turn out to fish and socialize with CL forum people. Coolerpup First appeared on the forum as AllenC, and was removed for abusive comments. Was given a reprieve, and reappeared as Coolerpup. Appeared to be a good contributer in 2003, but since, only appears to post to make negative or critical remarks about others or their posts. Also appears to intentionally create ill will where there was none previously. Has an ambiguous environmental position, and does not offer support to the forum with positive, insightful fishing posts, even though he is a very good surf fisherman. Does not spend time in fishing interest programs like DNREC advisory councils, RFA, or otherwise. Does not fish with CL forum people, and has stated that fishing Delaware beaches suques. Doug2 One of the original posters. Loves to stick in a screwdriver and give it a twist. Doesn’t post anymore. Appeared on the forum as arrogant t many. Once offered some very good, insightful boat fishing information. Except those who fished with him, knew him as a completely different character…which is what he is, a character. Will fish and socialize with anyone on CL who extends the offer. Does not spend time in fishing interest programs like DNREC advisory councils, RFA, or otherwise. So, why are we here? 1) To learn 2) To teach 3) To socialize 4) To debate / argue 5) To make friends in common So, let’s move on. I’ve made some darn good friends in history here, back before most of you were even posters on CL. I can start with Jay Little (who pulled this CL train wreck out of the fire more than once), one of everybody’s favorites Crabberjohn (God Bless you, bud), Steve “striperkiller” now ”troutsmack” and Mark “striperswiper”. Troutsmack and I go at it occasionally, and yet, I feel he’s a stand up guy who has made a darn good effort to make this and other forums an informational and social Mecca. I respect him immensely. Today, we have a posse of maybe 40 weekend friends, and you reg’lars know who you are, and I can add to the posse a bunch of newbies in 2005: Tacklemom and her crew (whose little daughter kept us amused this summer in a torrid love affair with Japeel’s son Tyler), Denardoh, Joe Fish4life, John Ifish2 (what a great character!), Bruce and Robin (who don’t post), and the list goes on. I apologize if your name’s not mentioned, this could get too long... Every one of these people are special to me. I may not spend hours alongside their truck, as I like my quiet time on the water, but you’ve all created something great on and off the forum. Think about it, we DO have fun, don’t we? and we catch fish too!!! A very dear friend once said, “friendship is an investment of time”, a very profound thought. So I digressed. What do we get from the forum? Not everyone seeks the relationships, the fishing comradery. Some seek an avenue to express themselves, treating this as their own little chat room. Some like to teach, and some seek knowledge. Doug2 was someone who used the forum for his romper room…he loved to rag on people just for effect, and most understood him for that, and those that didn’t, got angry. But when you met him personally, you couldn’t get angry with him, he’s a good guy, completely different than his CL personality. PierReview is a lot like his CL personality tending to be more serious, good-natured, but well-intended. Now here’s a guy I had some bloody debates with, knock-downs, and I wished he stayed his course rather than lurk and pop out from behind a tree, as he said. But I greatly respect the guy. But now, I come to Coolerpup. I invested some time in CL archives, which I will not pull up now. He had once won a tournament with two kingfish. The conditions were poor, and the fish weren’t there. After I congratulated him, he basically “F.U.”d me, because rather than see that I was knocking the conditions, he took exception that I said “only two fish won the tourney”. Prior to that, I’ve documented at least five other occasions where I congratulated him for something, and more where I supported his statements, etc., and once where I defended him when he was about to get booted off CL for the second time. Somewhere In time, he became vitriolic, and he feels I’m the cornerstone for his justification. I sent Allen an e-mail that was factual and to the point, without name calling, pointing out where, IMO, he has gone wrong. In response, he incredulously defended his CL actions, and for some things that are known only to a small circle of people. There are plenty of folks who don’t appreciate me, which is OK with me. You don’t have to like me to use me as a resource. That’s what I do here. I know I’m a turd sometimes, but I’d rate that at least I provide good info most of the time. And I know a good many folks on here are my friends, so this is my fishing forum home, like it or not. Coolerpup, this is for you: It’s time for you to change your attitude on CL. You got to grow up and be the spiritual man you proclaim to be. This anger and bitterness you have needs to go somewhere else. Go back and read posts in 2002 and 2003. People, including me, were respectful of you back then, and you still managed to get into trouble on the forum. Right now, you bring nothing to the forum. You don’t post fishing stuff, you don’t offer advice, you just wait until I post something so you can take ignorant shots at it. PierReview and others intelligently debate me, and I respect them for it. You post garbage that hijacks posts. Your garbage goes in the post and everyone else ends up sending garbage back out at you. I respectfully request, on behalf of most of the forum, that you 1) either post arguments with thought and reason, 2) at least try to be civil, or 3) leave this forum alone and, as you infer, go hang with your buddies on SOL. Whatever you do is clearly your choice, but if you decide to remain as you are, stay off my threads please. As well, I promise not to initiate any directed comments / Elmerisms to individuals, not their statements, mind you, but directly at individuals in 2006…my resolution. | ||

Now, CT did mention Allen in his original post here....but I can't see in any of my posts here where I mentioned anyone's name. You can read my post 100 times....it still reads the same. There are so many members on this board, I don't even know the number....but when I post something like above.....one person just ASSUMES that I am talking about him....so I am told to "get a life". Pounder, you don't know the story here, and have not seen the personal e-mails I sent trying to dispell the situation on the board. If you have enough energy to address this matter, go back and count the number of times Allen has called people names. Go back far, very far, like back to 2002. Just add the number of times he called people names in the last month, and compare them against any name calling by the balance of the entire board. He's no better than Yakattack, the only difference being that Yakattack at least had integrity. The parking lot is for this very reason, to spout. No one said you had to follow this thread. Well, if you started out as "surfisherman", you should have been kicked off the forum for being an imposter. | ||

I have also said that we have done before what you think we're accusing you of. It's an electronic world, and if it's not stricken from the rules, it's OK with me. BTW, I only insult you, others I have a disagreement with...because I like what it does to you. I respect Outcast and others with whom I've had disagreements, but I can't deal with guys who promote themselves at the expense of others. And you have left a huge wake in your past. And you quitting the team, you probably would have been asked to leave anyway, you just saved us the energy. It was Steve that we liked. You better hang on to that friendship. He's a damn good guy, and capable of looking past your obvious problems. Cut the Jim Peel crap - he did not make ignorant comments about your son's accident, he offered a sympathetic concern. What he did comment about was your slithering around in the background preparing your departure. But like everything you read or hear, the two fish story, etc, you immediately viewed it as a psychotic dillusion where someone's after you. Make no mistake, we all felt bad for your son. Striperlifer: 1) My rift with the other fellow goes back a long way and is based on his treatment of [former] friends in his past. I moved this from the fishing forum to the parking lot because that's where it belongs. You chose to follow it over here, and chose to read it. 2) You only have to go back to last summer on the Bass Barn to see a much bigger bruhaha than the one we've had on CL. Dammmmmmmmmmm Pretty strong post for your 10th post. Why would anyone want to go to Jersey's Bass Barn if this is the way they post over there? I'm here to relax, have fun and learn some things. I have accomplished all three. I have even met some really nice folks and enjoyed fishing with them. If you think the users of this forum are so "pathetic", why not just go back to the barn? It is that easy. I know if I walked into a room full of pathetic people, I would turn around and walk out. But, like I said. I have made some very good friends here and I know I am welcome here anytime. Relax. There are only a few people that post here that get on peoples nerves on a regular basis. And just by reading YOUR posts, I have come to the conclusion (on my own) you are not the type of person I would want to associate with. I have written off extended family members(in-laws) just because of the attitude you exhibit in this forum. You may ask anyone that knows me about my character or whatever else you want. I thought long and hard about this post. And when I went to post it, it didn't post. So I had to re-type the entire thing and it came out different. When I posted the second time, both drafts posted.
