I was looking at upgrading to a power cat. I'm looking mainly [so far] @ Kevlacat and glacier bay 24-28 but any insight and knowledge especially first hand would be greatly appreciated.

Though I have never ridden in one those Glacier Bay Cats are awesome looking and watching them cut through a 3 foot chop in the Del Bay was impressive. I have heard though that they can flip if a one of the hulls has a leak and the bilge pump can't keep up. They supposedly have problems with a following sea but again I am not speaking from experience. Maybe Cate Tales can jump in on this as he would know.

There is a guy in Pot Nets that has a G. Bay. If I can find out who it is I'll email you his name and number.
Both boats are made of kevlar, realy strong lightweight stuff.

Had a 25 sea cat cuddy. It is good in a small chop but in anything over 4 to5 ft. I did not like it at all I had a 25 mako before and I would take that boat anytime over the cat for offshore fishing. Do not buy a cat until you go offshore in one in over 4 to 5 ft. seas. If your impressed buy one but I was not comfortable in mine when it got bad. I have been fishing offshore on and off for over 30 years in all types of boats so I know a little bit about boats. Hope this helps you out.

This will be my fourth year on a 26.5 World Cat WA with Honda 130s. I love the boat. Moved up from an older 25 foot Proline (wide beam). No comparison on the ride in 3-4 footers. The Proline (with T/200 Yahamas) was a crasher when it came down, and I could seldom use all the power because in 3 foot seas it would go airborne and then hit hard.
The cat is slower on top end, but is very comfortable in seas up to four foot. Bigger than that, I don't go. I have had to come home in six and seven footers, and it has been no problem, just take it easy and be attentive. They will bite in on one side sometimes in heavy seas.

Boat will be in the water at Pot Nets Seaside in a couple of weeks. I took a fellow interested in a cat out last year for a ride and would be glad to do it again.....

Some people love 'em, others hate them. (personally, I don't care for the looks, but, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder). They're known to ride a little better than most comparably sized mono-hulls in seas to 4' (over 4', they're known to get a little hairy) and don't require as much power, so you'll probably save a few dollars on fuel. They also generally are easier to manuever when backing into a slip, etc. because the engines are much further apart than on a mono-hull, giving docking manueverability more like a twin-screw inboard.
On the other hand, cats (not specifically World Cat) are prone to structural problems according to one of the top fiberglass repair shops in the area. With all of the force that's exerted against the inner sides of the dual hulls, I can understand why structural problems may develop.

Thanks, Cat tales has offered some advice and I just need to see the difference in ride. But for me to be able to go offshore (I'm dying to get out there without chartering) and still putz around the bay with the family and get to house up by Love Creek it seems like a no brainer. I just have to decide which Cat is the best for my $$$.
