I fished the bay on Friday morning. Was fishing the deep channel around gull island using bucktails and 5" jerkshads. Caught a couple flounder early and then nothing when the tide started going out. Did see one guy showing somebody in another boat a nice doormat he caught. My biggest flattie was 21". Also caught a fat stargazer. Had lots of bites on large minnows. They were probably the little flounder i saw people catching using squid/minnows.

Flounder fishing in Indian river bay doesn't seem to be getting any better this year. I have caught some quality fish this year, but the number of fish caught has been drastically less. Makes me think that they wiped them out at their wintering grounds. Or maybe they haven't really come into the bay this year due to ocean or bay water temps.

Well Troy, least your catching keepers. I fished IR bay Thursday and got only 7 flatties and a small seabass but no keepers. Hey them Stargazers are wild looking things huh, I caught one last summer it was about 7-8 lbs. I wonder where the big one's are also, but just keep trying!!!
Good report and keep the lines tight.

Troy,
I agree, they must have wiped them out at the wintering grounds. I know its hard to get keepers in the back bay but it seems were seeing less and less small fish this year.

I agree also, with the exception of trout and a few decent flounder trips early, the bay(and IR) isn't worth my time or money right now. Besides I've been slammin them in the Susky, only 30 min from the house vs 11/2 hrs to the beach.
