I did get out on the Delaware Bay on Saturday. Early in the morning, the latest weather forecast was for calling for winds out of the SSW at less than 9 knots with seas less than 2 feet. We fished the Beach Ball and Broadkill Shoal using both softcrab and squid for bait. We caught over 50 croaker all less than 10 inches in length and we caught another 20 small sand sharks. At about 3pm, we tried to get away from the croaker by running out to Browns Shoal but when we got out there, the winds had kicked up and it was way too rough to bottom fish. We went back and fished the Beach Ball and caught another 25 croaker, two 6 inch seabass and a 14" flounder.

So, I found where the croaker are but where are the flounder? I wonder if the water was just too churned up for flounder fishing.

Jay, thanks for your help in locating the fishing spots. At the suggestion of someone in a baitshop on Savannah Road, we launched from Slaughter Beach instead of Roosevelt Inlet. It turned out to be a good decision.

You guys in Delaware must measure your wave heights differently than we do in Maryland. In Maryland, when the NWS is calling for 2 foot waves, they are usually 24" tall. Saturday, the NWS was calling for waves less than 2 feet on the Delaware and I don't think I saw any that short after about 1 o'clock.

Whalerron, I was out there with Gemini672 & Scooter122. We were fishing out at the beach ball also. Gemini672 caught two croakers, but they were not big enough to keep. We were using white bucktails. We didn't have any bait. But it worked.

Was also out there Sat morn. Went to 14' Light. Incoming tide and winds out there made it unfishable before sun-up. Worked our way back to the Beach Ball where it was (small) Croaker city on peeler crabs for us. Flounder were reported to be near E Buoy at the Anchorage, but we did not join the fleet which was fishing there.

We fish both DeBay and ChesBay. Anytime we see a wave forecast for either Bay, we double the figures to include the depth of the trough created by the height of the waves - 1-2' waves = 2-4' seas - then factor in the tide action compared to which direction the winds are from.

Thanks for your report.
