Left OC inlet at 6 AM, 2 boats- 4 motors and 2 radars. The good- flat calm seas. The bad- visibility less then 1/4 mile. At work, we call that 600 feet vis, and do autolands. Out here, we stayed close, watched the radar, and went slow. The vis finally picked up a bit later in the morning, maybe 2 miles. We trolled from the 20 fathom fingers out to the hot dog. Picked up a couple of bluefish to 20 pounds, but no other bites. Stopped at the Hot dog and decided to try chunking. The fog started coming back. More bluefish, and one giant freighter that looked like a ghost ship 200 feet back from us and it was a day. Water was green and 74.5 degrees.

Maybe some day we will see tuna...

Thanks for the report B717,

We stayed over at the Dog Sat/Sun. Visability was good all night. Good thing too, ship traffic was heavy. I had to pick up and move once because a dragger decide to make a wide turn and apparently didn't see me with my 1500 watts of lights. I saw both the green/red and white running lights, had the engines running and lines pulled, waited until he was about 100 ft. from me and figured he wasn't going to turn hard port or starboard before I moved.
We had about the same luck with blues, although a tad smaller.
Ditto about the Tuna.

We overnighted North of you guys, but the result was the same. Trolled through Massey's upto the Tea Cup and Elephant trunk Friday...Blues and one skippy. Drifted a chumline from the trunk out to the 50 line overnight. Blues were so think they were attacking our shark rigs like pirahna. Had some fun with them on the new Calcutta/St Croix combo though. Had one Brown shark about 3 ft. 5 am SAt. Picked up and trolled the fog, ran west towards the 30 line and trolled towards the dog, broke off and headed in after blues ate all the ballyhoo.

We did a tuna patrol Sunday in O.C.. We checked about 30 boats and only saw 7 tuna. All from the Wash./Balt Canyon area. Everyone was soaked and said it was rough the whole way in. Glad I didn't go. I hope this isn't as good as it gets!...sean

Was that some thick fog or what? We hit the fog bank about 12 miles off the beach and had it all the way out to the Baltimore. We trolled the west wall and the tip without a nip. Saw lots of baitfish, whales, & porpoises. We had decent water and temps but no fish.
