Thanks to some poor planning on too many people, I won't enjoy the toy for a few weeks in the bay so I'll be pitching soft plastics in the Brandywine for smallmouth and rockbass. If anybody is in that area Sunday morning, I'll be near the Brandywine zoo or Hagley dam. Feel free to look for a gray Dodge Dakota extended cab. I'll be the guy pouting on the bank. |

Well, something is better than nothing. Alot of hits around the Brandywine Zoo but nothing that would take a 1/0 hook. Mostly bluegill hits but 1 defined bass hit. Went above Hagley Dam around 7:30am. 6" pumpkinseed lizard got me 1 11" largemouth, yes largemouth (green with black stripe, I've caught enough to know the species) and 1 14" smallmouth. Again, alot of hits, mostly bluegills nipping at the tails but missed a few bass hits. 8:30 bite stopped on pumpkinseed so switched around until I got more hits on the chartreuse lizard. Couldn't buy a hit on any color worm. What down there has teeth? Had one of my lizards come back with the tail bitten off and teeth marks on the body. Would a trout chase a soft plastic or maybe a pickeral or washed-down muskie from PA? |

Darn........need to start reading the dates here Could have been a walleye, but my guess would have been the Tigermuskie. Next time you go take some BIG plastic, or some 5-7" inch jerkbaits, and something you can skim across the top of the water. Pickens are getting slim now, but there are still a few hogs down there. |

Mike - I read your post last night, but didn't know if I could make your time slot. You got me thinking though, maybe I should put some time in on the Brandywine / do a little exploring up there. Always liked a battle with a smallie. I've pulled some out of the Schuykill at Flat Rock Dam and Valley Forge State Park, they can be a BLAST on light line. Your post has got me lookin' at some maps. Good to know you had some hits. Kev - You fish that area pretty regular too, no ? Maybe the three of us could meet up there sometime. Just curious,... what kind of action do you expect at Lums this evening ? D. |

Since the bite slowed down, about 3 maybe 4 weeks ago I havent been fishing the Brandywine too much lately, but I would be interested in getting a few lines wet......There are some big smallmouth down there! a few weeks ago hooked into a 3 1/2 #er. WOW you talk about a fish doing some acrobats. He did the triple lindee, I gave him a 9.9 . Later this week when low tide meets the sunset I would be interested. Tuesday evening low tide is approx. 8:30 pm. would you guy want to meet up then? As for lums..... I think it will be a lil slow due to all the wind and fronts coming through. Believe it or not, I kinda like those days when the sun is beating down. Its easier to find the fish and their usually stacked up on structure or cover pretty thick. Who knows last time we had conditions like this about 2 weeks ago Nch-nch and I had a REALLY slow day, 2 or 3 fish in about 5 hrs, then $hit broke loose when the sun set and 1 of those fish tipped the scaled at 5+. Ours plns still are not in stone. So, if I get out there I report to you guys late tonight.

A 3.5 lb smallmouth huh,..... Where's the sign-up sheet, 'cause I'd like to tie into one of them on say.. 2 or 4 lb. test Tuesday night/sundown is very possible,.. are we talkin' Augustine Beach with lanterns, cold ones, meat and/or bloods? ...or the Brandywine? (ie, your reference to tide ... I wouldn't think tide has impact on the Brandywine,... unless, ..below the dam?) Keep in touch, either here or e-mail. D. |

I'm not saying they're all big, just a nice one I tied into . Your right, Below the dam. I havent had much luck between the last dam and the condo's upstream about a mile. Check your e-mail. As for Augustine, nothing happening down there right now, though the croakers are starting to show up. I wouldnt mind giving it a shot in a couple weeks or so. Maybe if were lucky the blues and flounder will show again this year. |

Keep me up to date by email or post. Tue and Thu are kinda tough with kids t-ball after my work but 8:30 sounds possible. Dave, where I was is a non-tidal area. Kevin, if I would have downsized my hooks, I probably could have torn up some giant bluegills. Last year I hit some to 10" but with their mouths so small, they don't take bass hooks too well. Never tried below the condos although I'm willing to give it a try. And I'm not against a shot with some bloods and cold ones at Augustine some evening... Waders or old shoes would have been more productive for me to wade around a little, I kinda stuck to 1 little area above Hagley dam. |
