Does anyone have an opinion on what the weather is going to be on Sunday? It looks like it will be increasing through the day on Saturday. Another question for the offshore vets - how accurate is the hudson-baltimore offshore forecast. Right now they are calling for 4-7 and I wonder if that really includes the area of the Hambone and Hot Dog. Any thoughts?

just remember when they are calling for 4-6 30% of the waves will be larger than that. the noaa website can give you some real time data. i tend to watch it and then compare w/ what it predicted and reported when i was out. 4-6 and real steep is a lot different than 4-6 rollers.

Mikes,

The Balt to Hudson is too far north and the forcast is too large of an area to get a real accurate feel for what's going to happen. They forecast an area up to 250 miles out. if the wind is building to 15 to 20 out of the southwest the waves may only be 3 ft at 20 miles but will be 8 ft or more at 250 miles.
I look at the wind direction, current speed and forecast speed. Also get information from many sources as possible. Here a link to check out what I'm talking about:

I'd check the inshore forecast off OC, then check offshore from Balt south to Hatteras.

I'd say if you leave Saturday am your in for a good day, Sunday am if you leave early you'll have a decent ride out and have following seas on the way back - UNLESS the forecast changes, which is always likely.

I've found for that area the NOAA forecast from Fenwick to Chincoteague to be the best barometer. So far it looks quite fishable to me, you should have fairly decent weather, wish I could go! Work Stinks on a weekend!
